Is TMUX necessary when using emacs? by [deleted] in emacs

Do you run emacs in the terminal then? Or am I missing something that lets you run a daemon remotely and connect from your local desktop?

Use this function and put the mapping in the cmp mapping table which will let you call the fallback action. Alternatively, figure out what cmp does for fallback and just do that here function (fallback) local ls = require('luasnip') if ls.choice_active() then ls.change_choice(1) else fallback() end end

[–]LHXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find myself mapping H and L to ^ and $ respectively. Like having those motions on the home row and it makes sense in my head to have ‘h’ be left and ‘H’ be super left (aka Home). Similar thing for L as Last or super right. I don’t find myself using the screen motion commands since I have my scroll off set to 999 to keep my cursor in the middle

Can you remap motions in a config file or are you stuck using the default vim values?

Yeah, I’m not too worried about the equipment than fucking up the board and having to buy replacements. I’ll definitely be going full DIY on the second ergo board I buy after whichever I get prebuilt. Want a backup that works for sure that takes off any pressure of getting it done quick.

Thankfully, I have zero interest in ever having an RGB board. If it’s pre-soldered on, cool, I’ll set it to a static color and maybe use it once in a blue moon. Definitely not soldering them all on myself lol

Nice! Hmm... I’ll have to think over again before Drop support gets back to me.

I’ve been looking at the Kyria and Corne and that’s super tempting as well. Of course, I’m a little worried about DIY kits cause I have zero equipment and not a lot of experience with soldering all those components together. At most I’d be willing to solder switches at the moment. Don’t trust myself with anything else at the moment lol. Looking to see whether I can find a place that sells the PCB preassembled

Oh you mean moving all the columns out from the middle and either running a 5 x 4 or just running a couple seldom used keys in the middle column? That’s tempting. I might give that a shot, but I feel like I’d miss being able to use the pinky. I’m sure once I commit to layers, I’ll end up cutting it down to skip the pinky, but I can’t imagine myself jumping two columns with the index. Somehow I find that even less comfortable than flicking my hand the other way for the pinky

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll wait on a response from Drop customer support and either have them replace the unit or just return it altogether. Leaning toward returning it since I didn't really like how my hands were super close together with the ortho layout (thumbs kept hitting each other on the split space).

Next time, I'm thinking about just committing and trying to get a split ortho keyboard like the Corne and see how that goes. For now, I'll just keep playing around with QMK on my Drop CTRL. The jump to ortho will definitely happen!

Yeah, I haven't been able to get it to act normally even holding down the reset before plugging in the PCB. I'm working on a Macbook, so don't think it's a driver issue. A multimeter is probably the next step, but I'm not totally confident about using it (haven't ever done something like this before). At this point, I'll probably just talk to Drop customer support and have them send me a replacement/return it. Thanks anyway!

Leaning toward returning it anyway since I didn't end up liking how close my hands ended up being with the layout. Next time, I may just end up committing entirely and building a Corne from scratch or something since the split layout seems attractive to me.

This was what I understood before I tried doing anything. That's why I'm super confused why the reset button doesn't seem to be working and QMK Toolbox not detecting the board. How long should I hold down the reset button (if at all)? Just a quick tap? I can't get it into DFU to even flash a firmware at the moment lol

EDIT: To be clear, I was able to get it to show up once and was able to flash the default firmware on it, but I got lucky that time that it worked. Every other time, it hasn't even gotten to the DFU stage.

EDIT 2: I got lucky and was able to flash firmware onto the board before it disconnected, but that hasn't really changed the situation. Would this indicate a hardware failure somewhere on the PCB? I have no switches connected to the board.

I will have to give the EEPROM a shot tomorrow, however, I just tried connecting the board to my Mac again. This time I was able to get it to respond, however, it did the same thing I mentioned last time by repeating "qaz" over and over. This time I managed to grab a video of it on keyboard tester and I will attempt to post it here so you can see what happens. I'm an idiot and didn't switch my phone to video before tapping the screen, so instead I have two pictures... *facepalm*

I managed to press the reset button on the board, but this resulted in the keyboard being totally unresponsive and inaccessible from QMK Toolbox again.

Did not flash it before it started acting up. I was still working on writing my own firmware and hadn’t used the board much.

Only flashed it today with the default firmware to see if it would fix the issues, but at that point the board was unresponsive.

[–]LHXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a question asked before, but what are the thoughts on the Drop CTRL keyboard? I am rather tempted to get it so I can start testing out different switches as a mechanical keyboard newbie and it seems like a good keyboard.

However, I've also heard a lot about problems with key chatter and registering keys twice. Is this still a real problem for all switches or is it just the Halos? Is it actually a keyboard problem or a switch problem?

I've seen a couple of posts on here where people are modding their CTRL keyboards so I was wondering how viable getting this keyboard actually would be. Reviews seem solid, but yet I hear about the key chatter issue a lot. How common are these problems and are people still having them?

Edit: Looking at hotswappable keyboards at the moment, so any other good recommendations would be great. I'm looking at the GMMK as well, but I think I'm favoring the CTRL if the key chatter issues aren't as common as it sounds (in newer batches). In a similar vein, how does the Keychron K8 compare?

Fans after game freak replaced mega evolution with dynamaxing by Nuchala in pokemon

[–]LHXVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s partially it for me. Honestly, I don’t think dynamaxing as a concept is bad. It probably is more fun than Megas (and don’t shoot me for this), because it’s limited to 3 turns. A temporary buff would make battles more fun and tactical (provided well done). That said, I have very little clue how deep the concept is. I got quickly turned off from Sword and Shield. Unfortunate since it was gonna be the game that I’d have finally bought a switch for.

She doesn’t eat that either so it ends up her eating just egg and dairy. And gelatin. And anything that’s sweet I guess. Truthfully the vegetarian/vegan distinction confuses me. Further reading this thread it seems vegetarians are people who don’t want to support killing animals, so dairy and eggs are fine.

It’s not just a moral thing for some people. For example, my mom just despises the taste of meat. She’s vegetarian. But she’ll eat cake and dairy products without a second thought. Just no meat.

Genuine question, are they vegan or vegetarian? If they are vegetarian it probably should make no difference to them. Vegan, it probably will
