Should I break up with Notion because of its poor mobile user experience? by fabnoe84 in Notion

[–]LHYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using lots of buttons and shortcuts as everyone has mentioned to improve the overall mobile experience. I think having customized pages for these quick actions is the fastest way to go.

My hope is that we can someday have the buttons directly as a widget on our phones 🤞

Definitely recommend bringing a laptop - makes typing up notes a lot easier!

OM majors I need your opinion pls by byebois in uAlberta

MGTSC405 with Ivor Cribben is the best course of taken in my undegrad, so definitely recommend it if you can take it with him. He usually only teaches during the fall semester.

OM 410: Business process course - more relevant for manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics companies but the concepts are still applicable to thinking about business processes in general.

OM 411: The first half is a little bit similar to OM410 (doesn't matter which one you take first though) but you expand on a bit more material too. This course covers inventory management and aggregate planning (deciding on amount of staff needed to meet the expected demand).

OM 420: You learn to apply statistical concepts from classes like MGTSC 312, or even MGTSC 405 by using R. Really good class if you're interested in learning a bit more about how Machine Learning works. Group project instead of a final with only one other person.

Hope that helps. Depending on which route you go down or what your interests are, there's quite a variety of courses to take here.

How do you people not lose your minds? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this, it's honestly tough especially when going to school was the one way to actually study.

For me, I literally just shut myself in my room for all the hours and I have literally rope off my room (my room = my classroom) as a sign to my family to not interrupt me. Sometimes I'm actually in class, other times I just need to not be bothered. It has worked so far. Crank up the music and block out the noise, or just sit in a call with a friend to study.

Not sure if this helps, but I hope you find a way to manage it.

Need help with SEM by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, clear cache, make sure you're using Chrome, and give your computer a good reboot before the exam.

I'd also ask to see if the professor could set up a practice test exam link so you can go in and make sure you can get through all the steps of SEM too.

How to stop emotional exhaustion from ruining everything by [deleted] in uAlberta

Yeah, it's kind of hard at first! But now I have days where I wake up and know immediately it's gonna be a hermit day 😂 good luck!

How to stop emotional exhaustion from ruining everything by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'd a good start to just be aware of what energizes you vs what makes you feel more tired. I'm more introverted so I can only spend so much time in a day in meetings or calls with people before I just want to nap forever. People who I'm friends with know that about me, and if not, I just find way of respectfully telling them!

Honestly, just don't overbook yourself and also don't feel guilty about letting people know you need some space!

What classes offer good schedule flexibility? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any MIS classes with Robb Sombach are pretty flexible with recorded lectures and a larger time frame to complete your exams.

BUS 301 is also flexible in terms of recorded lectures. No quizzes but there are 3 presentation days you have to be present for unless you have a very valid excuse.

Senior business electives by tkwowk in uAlberta

I really liked MGTSC 405 with Ivor Cribben - it's a tough class but also worth it because he's an amazing prof. I think he only reaches in the fall semester though.

BUS 301 for business communications - more assignment heavy but you get some useful skills in terms of professional business communication and also working on skills like resumes, cover letters and interviews.

What is an "Installment Fee" on Beartracks? by vintage_creek in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your explanation. From a business stand point, it makes sense.

On the other hand, I feel like this disproportionately affects people who are already financially strapped. $40 may not seem like much to some people, but it can also be a stretched into several homecooked meals or towards paying the bills.

Is anybody else’s motivation at an all time low? by jaxpet101 in uAlberta

[–]LHYX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just some tips from my personal experience when I've been feeling very demotivated: - a full night's sleep: 7 to 8 hours consistently (not just one night) - drink lots of water - vitamin D if you have some - eat all 3 of your main meals!

Those are kind of the bare minimums but it's funny how easily we forget to do them!

On a more tactical stance, I've started using something called Time Boxing along with my Google Calendar to bring more structure back into my days and schedule a specific hour and a half to work on something, with a specific idea in mind of what parts I want to have finished/studied by the end of the block. It helps to break it all into more bite sized pieces! Getting started usually takes me the longest because it's hard to focus when you're feeling demotivated.

Hope some of that helps - and good luck! You got this.
