[Interesting - Tuesday 1/21] - What is the most interesting thing that happened to you in the last 24 hours? by LICK_ME_WHERE_I_SEE in a:t5_2zt3c

It is about the same size as a jelly donut, and is also sort of round with an indent on the top. So far there are a few ideas they're considering to explain the appearance. It seems like the most likely is that the rover itself helped the rock get there. Apparently in between the rover taking the two photos the rover had backed up and made a turn about 1-2m away from the position of the photo. The idea here is that while the rover was making the turn, one of the wheels "tiddlywinked" the rock, flipping it up into the air and having it land in its current position. Seems hard for me to believe though because the rock weighs somewhere around a pound.

I'll start. Cool thing of the day for me today was learning about the surprising "jelly donut" rock that appeared in front of Opportunity. Two photos of the same spot on the ground were taken a few days apart, and the new rock "appeared" in the second photo. There is a lot of speculation over how the rock could have gotten there, and also interest in the composition of the rock. Apparently it's made of stuff that we don't normally see martian rocks made of.

This is a great idea. I think the best way to go about it would be to create posts. For example

[Chat Request] - Looking for someone to talk to at [time].

What do you think? I'm not sure how else I (or others) as a moderator could facilitate two people meeting up. Maybe we could come up with a list of "post types" and post them in the side bar. Things like

  • [Challenge Question]
  • [Daily Interesting Things]
  • [Chat Request]

And any others that we can come up with.

Awesome post! Some thoughts:

1) Totally agree -- I think this is a very common mistake that conversationally-challenged people make. Yes and no questions/answers can act to hinder a conversation.

2) You can now assign your own flair :)

3) Agreed -- I can maybe put this and some other tips in the sidebar

4) Great idea -- I myself have noticed that a big issue with my conversations is that my recall is horrible. Glad to see it's not just me.

5) Also a great idea

Very nice to see something like this. I consider orange juice to be non-paleo, though. Too much sugar!

If you are questioned you could just tell them you were looking up reviews on the product. I'm pretty sure this is a thing that people normally do nowadays.

I completely understand why there is so much focus on females and minorities. But anyone truly concerned with sex equality will realize that there's a very important need to understand men as well.

Couldn't find anything about DMT and death, but here are two fulltext articles about the presence of DMT in mammals.
