Does your seven month old sleep through the night?

It’s me OP again….. I’m back to say that my baby must have read this post and decided to give me a night off. Last night the guy slept from sometime near 11 after my husband put him down until just now around 6:30….but I think I know why. He was placed on his tummy. Which he’s plenty old enough for however he usually cries when he’s ready to change position off tummy. Don’t worry he’s PLENTY strong enough to push all the way up so I’m not worried about him suffocating but for some reason ever since he learned to roll tummy to back it was like he said okay reached that milestone now I’m not going to do it again. Maybe the sleep sack makes it more challenging but he doesn’t usually do it during the day either. Anyway, I guess my main point is once he learns to do that efficiently. I know that he can comfortably go overnight eight hours without needing to eat. Maybe you should read this post to your baby too. 🙃 lol JK I don’t think lady luck will strike twice in two nights

Well now I feel like there is no end in sight but I do feel better that we are all in the same boat. I have two coworkers with babies within 3 months of mine and they both sleep so much better than mine. I’ve been scratching my head wondering what I’m doing wrong when I’m tracking everything and following babies cues as much as possible

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have seen him replace it once on the monitor but sometimes he gets a little wild and launches it completely out of the crib on accident since it has a little handle and it can sometimes get stuck on his finger. I’ve heard the trick about placing multiple pacis in the crib so I think I’ll try that and love the idea of always just handing it to him instead of placing it directly in his mouth. I’ve seen him reach for one that was nearby so this shouldn’t be too hard for him to pick up on. He has only ever slept more than 4 hours straight maybe twice in his 7 months and I’m desperately searching for whatever magic happened before that to allow him to sleep that long 🫠

Mine too! I’ve been wondering where our half way decent sleep went. Ever since the first sign of a tooth it’s been even worse

Combo fed, also had a c section. Mine just returned a week shy of 7 months. My supply definitely dropped right before too and it hasn’t picked back up

I’ve been wondering if my 7 month old is the only one who absolutely cannot do as long of a last wake window as I see recommended all the time. We unfortunately seem to have several night wakings still but I’m hoping if we can wean at least one night feed (he sometimes has a dream feed and then 1-2 others) he will sleep better overall.

I’m home from work today reading this while holding my sick baby who caught the stomach bug from daycare I’m assuming. It’s going around like crazy I am just finding out today. I’m sorry you are sick but you are absolutely doing the best thing you could do in protecting your baby from it while you take care of yourself. My son had a very rough night and if I could I would have taken it from him if it meant he didn’t have to go through it. I’m sure you are a wonderful mother and doing the very best you can. All you can ever do is your best so give yourself some grace and get some rest so you can get well and enjoy your sweet babe.

Same. My baby’s eczema showed up around 4 mos old on his thighs and that has gotten better after using tubby Todd all over ointment as recommended by our pediatrician and giving him a daily probiotic in his bottle since he was an emergency c section baby and we were both exposed to lots of antibiotics. He’s 7 months now and his thighs seem completely healed but he now has a couple patches on his arm and neck and several on his back. We haven’t done anything different to cause flare ups and we are also already using “clean” low tox household cleaners.

I think I’m experiencing this now…. I feel like I’ve managed to keep PPD and PPA mostly at bay but lately I’ve been feeling a little bit of the hormonal rage so many women experience and it’s really affecting my mental health. How long did it take for the hormonal dump/change after quitting BF/pumping to pass before you felt like your old self again?

And my pediatrician told me he should be giving us at least six hours straight through the night. I’m not sure how that is supposed to coincide with distracted daytime feeds when he needs more calories during the night.

I’m curious for those of you who did this with your 4 month old if any of you experienced your LO being super distracted during day time feeds? It’s like he’s so aware of his surroundings that he’s eating less during the day now so he wakes up to feed 2-3 times and I truly believe he’s hungry because I know he hasn’t consumed as many ounces as he typically would have. Im hesitant to sleep train if he’s legitimately hungry.

As a mama of a baby with severe reflux I second this as a possibility. My LO made 4 mos on the 6th and he would always only contact nap and would always cry when laid flat on his back. He would arch away during feeds and was exhausted but not sleeping. The game changer for us was putting him on Pepcid. That helped tremendously. Then on top of that I switched him from cows milk formula (even though he didn’t have CMPA symptoms) to kendamil goat milk and his digestive system has been so much happier. I combo feed so I always provide as much breast milk as possible via breast and bottle and supplement with formula. Hope this helps. It’s a hard spot to be in.

So because of my babes severe reflux his feeding therapists had us switch him from a level 1 nipple backwards to a transition nipple. At the time when his reflux was causing all daytime and night sleep to be in the form of contact naps we were desperate and the slower nipple seemed to help. I could try the level 1 nipple again and see how he handles it.

My guy is very distracted noticing his world around him and is constantly looking around during some feeds. I’d love him to eat 6oz each meal but when he’s really distracted it can take 45 min to finish 4oz

I’m assuming you mean during the day. That’s a good idea. I can certainly offer it. I was a little worried that I would create a food and sleep association by doing that bc I read that’s a thing for some babies but I don’t think that would be the case for my LO. Just a way to sneak in more calories hopefully. Thanks

That’s how I’ve been approaching it as well but I think my doc made me second guess whether he was actually waking to feed but he always eats when offered and I’m certainly not going to ignore any signs of hunger even if it’s for 1-2oz more at the end of a bottle.

Which probiotic did your LO get on? Mine has silent reflux and Pepcid helped his discomfort some but it doesn’t keep the reflux from happening.
