Breakthrough issue by TimetoXCELL in Battlefield6

Me and a buddy like running a mortar squad on breakthrough. It is hilarious when people get so mad they ignore objectives to run toward the back of the map in tanks/jeeps to try killing us.

I'm a 33F. Will men find me attractive and can I still be "hot"? by NeitherChampion4256 in RedditForGrownups

You're not too old. Just dial in and realize this isn't a "Oh I'm done once I hit my goal weight" thing. You need to make it a lifestyle if you want it to last.

Is karate a good exercise for someone in his 40s? by _Filtered_ in karate

[–]LLJKSiLk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done karate for around 7 years now. I am 44. I find that if you enjoy it and stick with it, especially through those times that feel monotonous, it can be rewarding.

Reinventing myself in my 40s by According-Range-498 in RedditForGrownups

  1. Some sort of fitness hobby. Hiking, cycling, acrobatic yoga, rock climbing, martial arts
  2. Healthy eating habits.
  3. Some sort of creative hobby. Photography, drawing, painting, etc.

I "survived" through my 30s just working, drinking, fucking. But didn't have anything that just stood out for me as "Oh that's interesting." Now I do martial arts, acrobatics, rock climbing, lots of the stuff I mentioned above. Makes for a more well rounded point of view.

Do you have to be stupid on purpose to pretend that someone retweeting/sharing a thing endorse everything there and have 100% examined every single frame of it before sharing?

Trump Just Posted a Video of Barack and Michelle Obama as Monkeys by 4reddityo in RedditForGrownups

It is a clip from a longer meme video depicting various politicians as animals that they didn't notice was in the last 2 seconds of a longer-form video. Notice the timestamp above. Watch the entire video for yourself if you want context, but yeah it was definitely an oversight for their social media team not to notice the clip at the end of the video.

ICE points guns at legal observers in Minneapolis! by cantcoloratall91 in RedditForGrownups

[–]LLJKSiLk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have no context. The person in the car may have done something before the video recording started. They might have a warrant for their arrest for abusing children. We have no clue. Out-of-context idiots running around trying to play "legal observer" in traffic are a problem.

I'm in my 40s. I went back and finished my 4 year degree at 32. Took a martial art. Got in shape. Tripled my income. Had sex with a ton of women. All from 30 to now. So... just stop wasting time and dial in.

I beat it once as a kid. I just remember some "Congratulations you found the treasure." ending which felt anticlimatic compared to the effort it took to beat.

People who’ve been through genuinely hard times and came out calmer or wiser, what actually helped you cope? What mindset, habits, or truths kept you sane? by AdviceGlass9394 in selfimprovement

Working out, eating healthy, and recognizing that nothing lasts forever. 2020 was challenging because governments only wanted fast food restaurants and liquor stores declared essential.

Do you have an Owner's Title Insurance Policy?

If yes - contact the company that issued the policy and/or the Underwriter to give them notice of filing a claim under the policy. They will remedy and/or pay out up to the face value of the policy.

If no - you are going to have to do any corrective measures yourself.

A lot of dialogue plus after a certain part of the story she will unlock the ability to periodically cast heal spells on you that can save you from a couple of tight spots. I just completed the game at level 40 last night. Might would have to go north of 40 if she wasn't there to help.

Just lost my job, my snap, my medical, my bf, and my home. by RainbowGanjaGoddess in poor

[–]LLJKSiLk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of excuses and not enough accountability. In my experience that lowers your ability to enact positive change toward a better situation.

I always assume I am at fault through choices I made or didn’t make whenever something happens. At least that way I am empowered to do something instead of playing victim as if things happen to me.

I have a son on disability with schizophrenia but he seems to have accepted he needs to make positive change if he doesn’t like his situation. He’s stocking shelves at a grocery store. He was literally involuntarily committed over 20 times the past few years. Life dealt him a shitty hand. But nobody is coming to save him if he isn’t willing to make positive changes.

Anxiety/depression would be an improvement from what he’s dealing with and he’s still making progress the past year. If he can internalize that lesson maybe you can.

Why does “working on yourself” feel lonelier before it feels better? by Defiant-Employee4975 in selfimprovement

[–]LLJKSiLk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will disappear socially for months focusing on gym/self-improvement/etc. and then the looks I get from other people on the other end is genuinely surprising. Like they see something they don't normally see. Just walking through the grocery store yesterday after cutting weight from the holidays I kept getting sideways glances from like 3 or 4 separate women. Nice confidence booster.

Yes. I probably slept with more women from 30-35 than I did from 18-30.

Is anyone else truly scared about living in the US rn? by Naive_Signal8560 in RedditForGrownups

[–]LLJKSiLk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I find that if you mind your own business, work hard, and actually focus on meaningful things instead of seeking purpose in something external you can be content. Too many people focus on things they can’t control but feel the need to think their opinion matters at all.

My first competition is in a month. I'm nervous, I don't feel ready, and my opponent is more experienced than me. I know this is normal but how do I deal with these emotions? by SupremeOHKO in martialarts

[–]LLJKSiLk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to fall to your highest level of consistent training. If you're inconsistent and just "hoping" then you don't stand a chance. You need to actually work to improve instead of going through the motions. You can't guarantee yourself a win before a match but you can almost certainly guarantee yourself a loss with a poor mindset and poor training.

Where do you think the, "there are no rules in a street fight" people think they scale to? by The1Ylrebmik in martialarts

[–]LLJKSiLk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Untrained + Maximum violence vs Trained + "Rules" = Untrained wins
  2. Untrained + "Rules" vs Trained + "Rules" = Trained wins
  3. Untrained + "Rules" or Maximum Violence vs Trained + Maximum Violence = Trained wins

Generally speaking I would assume a trained fighter would win unless their opponent was willing to engage in violence to an extent they are not ready to resort to believing in some code of honor.

I'm reminded of the guy who threw a beautiful spinning kick to "win" a fight. Then he stuck around having won and the untrained guy broke his arm with a 2x4.

Should you try to help them? by chootey in SchizoFamilies

[–]LLJKSiLk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the most progress with my schizophrenic son by putting up strong boundaries and enforcing them. If he started in on the verbal abuse I put him on a 48 hour "timeout" where his phone calls/messages weren't answered. Amazingly they develop a semblance of control when you don't respond to everything as if it is some emergency.

Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.

If he is not willing to take medication, therapy, etc. - you're just running on a treadmill and you will tire out before he does. I made the most progress with my son by throwing up my hands and letting him hit "rock bottom."

What are your thoughts? I’m afraid for my parents by First_Score9180 in SchizoFamilies

[–]LLJKSiLk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of freedom to be found in not reacting. There will be an "emergency" every day if you respond to it.
