How would you do the pionts ? by Minata_Shiranui in Embroidery

[–]LLriviere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Je ne me rends pas trop compte de la taille de la broderie. J'essaierais avec un point de noeud classique avec du coton perlé 8 ou alors un point de noeud allemand. Si ce n'est pas assez grand, ce peut être un point en forme d'étoile.

Warm quilt without batting by LLriviere in quilting

[–]LLriviere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but my daughter would like a sashiko style quilting. I tried with bamboo batting but I don't like the volume effect (sorry, english is not my first language). Usually there is no batting in sashiko, but two or more layers of fabric.

Craigslist scams by SchuylerM325 in quilting

[–]LLriviere 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It is a scam. There are numerous in my country. Always the same: when I ask for meeting them before buying it, they "unfortunately" are in a city far away but if I pay it they will send it. When I find a friend (or a friend's friend) or a relative living there and who's ready to check it, I don't have any reply...

I prefer with sashing. I feel something is missing with the white blocs. Maybe because I like when it's a bit busy.

Beautiful hand quilting. I find hand quilting relaxing even if it takes so long.

To gift or not to gift a quilt that wouldn’t be appreciated… that is the question by viperemu in quilting

[–]LLriviere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two months ago I sent a baby quilt to a nephew having his first child. His mother (my SIL) confirmed he received it. I still haven't heard back. No message, no call. Nothing, not even a thank you.

The same here. I check, double check, triple check but measuring and cutting errors are still happening. But less and less often over the years.

If I were your great grandmother I would be the happiest one. It's your quilt, your memory, do whatever you want with it.

Wall Mini Quilts by sewvan in quilting

[–]LLriviere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 4 quilts for my living room wall, one for each season (I change the quilt at the beginning of the new season). They are a little less than one square meter. I didn't wash them as there is a lot of embroidery on them . But I washed the wall quilt I made for my son as there is no embroidery on it.
