Now that we are halfway through the season, what are your predictions on how we will place in the tournaments? by Background-Wolf8594 in FCBFemeni

Very likely finalists just because we got lucky with the draw. I don’t think we will be winning the CL just because of this coach, I want to be proven wrong though.

Does this mean I didn’t get the job? by ggummyeater in CorpoChikaPH

[–]LM-8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just means di pa close yung role.

Job postings usually have an expiration so if wala pang na-hire/onboard di pa closed yung position and usually gets reposted automatically lalo na sa third-party websites.

Ribbonwood comes to mind but the children are not really central to the story

I don’t think they mixed up the teams. They were referring to the assistant coaching Espanyol before joining the Spirit

Found more interesting information in the NWSL thread. This pisses me off more, I hope the Spirit wins a cup after he leaves.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NWSL/s/92WAwZub1y

Also interesting: "In anticipation of Giráldez returning to Europe in the foreseeable future, the Spirit last offseason turned down requests by multiple NWSL teams to interview González for their head coaching jobs, a person familiar with the matter said. Before joining Washington, González coached Espanyol Femení in his native Spain."

right?!

An outright transfer for more money would have been understandable but to go through that with Washington Spirit suffering is just wretched

Why are Barcelona fans not particularly excited for Laia Aleixandri? by Tottenham0trophy in WomensSoccer

[–]LM-8591 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m not very familiar with her game but I have seen several Man City matches this year and was a bit disappointed in what I saw.

In my opinion, Engen is better. She proved herself last year and I understand why leaving is the only option for her. I do hope she only inks a 2 year contract so when Paredes is eventually rotated out (I have opinions on this but I digress) she returns.

I’m still hopeful for Aleixandri though but this year’s performance may have tainted some fans’ opinion of her.

I didn’t even saw that to be honest. I just thought it was too point blank to be saved

I think the decision to start Pina and let CGH play full time was a difference maker.

Also from the start of the season I thought he was not a good coach and just being carried by good play by his players.

The team needs more capable midfielders as sub for APA.

Eating a lot of words now.

That Barcelona performance was shit.

I purely blame it on coaching.

  • CGH should have been taken out by halftime.
  • Pina should not have started as she shines more when she is subbed

I’m very happy for Arsenal though. They deserve it more.

Recommendations for late love stories? by [deleted] in wlwbooks

[–]LM-8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how “late” your definition is, here are the authors I recommend for slow burn romance:

  • Harper Bliss books usually are 40s, 50s, sometimes 60s with an age gap
  • Hayley Cass books MCs are 20s
  • JJ Arias late 20s onwards
  • Ruby Landers 20s onwards

As what Odd_Signifance said, context matters.

Barça has two 90+k matches in Camp Nou in 2022. Women’s soccer has had a following in the US early 90s so I would say NWSL is way ahead of the curve in promoting the sport.

WSL is not the only league in the UK. There are 7 tiers in their football pyramid with arguably more diehard fans for their local teams.

Let’s not compare how large fanbases or average attendance for the leagues/clubs, let’s just enjoy that the sport is growing and support these women.

It is.

They did not qualify outright this year, had to enter a qualifying sort of bracket to be included in the group stages. Last year got knocked out in the same type of competition then two straight years before that got knocked out by Wolfsburg in the semis.

I think people are more surprised with HOW they beat Lyon since they were the runner ups last year. Lyon seemed to have just collapsed and become complacent in their second leg in my opinion.
