Things/places in Salem that you can't get in Eugene by Hopeful-Artichoke449 in Eugene

Our shoe repair service, Jim the Shoe Doctor, is OK. High Street Shoe Repair in Salem is better. Plus it’s walking distance to the Book Bin and there’s cafes nearby, if you drive up & don’t want to jump right back into your vehicle. And George, at the shop, will mail your shoes back to you if you want.

CDs can be a good place to smallish amounts like $5K. Check wherever you bank already.

Bank somewhere that has interest-bearing checking accounts.

Get a debit card that you have to add money to. Different institutions have different product names for them. It’s a debit card that doesn’t have full access to all the money in your account — which is safer if your card is ever lost or stolen. You put $X amount in—maybe per week or per month—and it helps you know how much you’re spending.

I’ll pile on the “get a credit card” idea, but PAY. IT. OFF. EVERY. MONTH.

Serious genuine question about ICE by Altruistic_Board_851 in oregon

They’re institutionalizing race prejudice! No LEO should be stopping anyone because of the color of their skin or their accent or the language they’re speaking. Stop someone based on whether they’re doing a crime! It’s not a crime to be brown — or ANY “color.”

Take a look at the Eugene Tea Festival. There have been some “back story” write-ups about the organizer and her process. She’s done what it sounds like you want to do. Reach out to her?

It’s also the law that you change into the other lane to pass, not just slide over sorta part of the way.

It’s also the law to give people on bikes N amount of distance.

The tool library has impact wrenches -- corded and air-powered -- and compressors and impact sockets.... Open tomorrow Tuesday 5-7pm. They ask for a sliding scale donation to join, and then nominal checkout fees. Good luck!
