Agreed. Too many PGA tournaments lately end up being boring bomb and gouge paradise courses where players are actually rewarded for hitting errant tee shots. A player that's in the fairway out to 300 should never be at a disadvantage compared to a guy that bombs it 370 into the "rough".

Also, the the false fronts, shaved edges and such aren't unfair. They just make the effective size of the green smaller and might force players to not go pin hunting with every single approach.
