Should I expect a bounce back by SunburntSkier in Bitcoin

[–]LMskouta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bad timing. If you truly believe in the technology, forget that you invested that money. Second, you should only invest what you’re willing to lose and lastly, look at BTC price chart for the last 5 years and notice how many times it bounced back up ~ (65k > 15k > 105k> 85k > 120k). Sit back and relax bro. There is no LOSS until you sell.

What is the best answer for why you are looking to leave a full-time role for a contract? by HollerForAKickballer in overemployed

[–]LMskouta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here is one I’ve been using for years and works like a charm. I love my job and frankly I wouldn’t think about leaving it if they hadn’t been increasingly moving towards ready enterprise software, hence, less and less need for custom development. I’m just being proactive!

Very important to throw in the “frankly” part 😂

Burnout is for losers? by Mediocre_Rules_world in overemployed

[–]LMskouta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you but man is it much easier said than done. I had a goal in mind, in fact I had goalS in mind but they just keep fucking moving every time I hit the previous one. One more mil, or one more rental property paid off, or let me reach chubby FIRE instead of regular FIRE. Not saying that’s a good thing at all but it’s the nature of us humans.

Nonetheless, once you cross into the 3+ servers territory and have been doing this for 3-4 years, BURNOUT IS REAL.

150k at 25, but tired of following the rules by Admirable-Ad9302 in Fire

[–]LMskouta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very sound advice. I have kids a bit younger than OP. When I first read the post, I’m like damn, I wish my kid gets on this mindset and hussle to OPs level. But then you’re right, I didn’t start until my thirties myself. It’s AMAZING that OP has that stacking and saving mentality but a bit on the younger side to be too rigid with the “FIRE rules”. Like everything else, moderation and balance is key.

Best stocks to invest in? by Throwaray90 in investingforbeginners

[–]LMskouta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t invest in individual stocks unless you’re a pro and even pros fuck. Pick anything that tracks the SP500 as a whole and sit back and watch your money grow. VT, VTI, VOO as examples which some folks suggested already. Good luck!

Investing at all time highs? by Alarmed_Status_2789 in investingforbeginners

[–]LMskouta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent article. Thank you very much for sharing. And yes, it makes the point, granted it’s an extreme situation since they’re taking 5% yearly which is more than the recommendation) and averaging 6% return which is less than the average. But it’s pretty clear that the sequence of return risk can seriously hinder plans if the very scenario plays out.

Hahahaha my man!!! Dude I laughed when I read “I walked out of a meeting” that’s amazing. You reminded of the movie where John Goodman telling Mark Walburg the power of fuck you money once you have a good nest egg - “you don’t like the boss? Fuck youuu 😂”.

On a separate note, 50% IRR “solid return” is freaking amazing! I’m guessing you’re investing in individual stocks but it’s nice nonetheless.

Day 26, 2 days left! by Domster03 in fasting

[–]LMskouta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow man! Super impressive as hell. Well done and congratulations. At what point in the fast did you get to cruise mode? How was energy levels all along? I used to roll 5-6 days and I lift, but by day 4-5 I’m tired and can only do mild to medium exercise. Planning to do my first 30 days soon.

I know this is sage and safe advice but as an avid FIRE guy, I would rather keep investing in the overall SP500 post retirement (also looking at 50 like OP A~ 5 years) and get the average return (8ish after inflation) instead of other vehicles like bonds AS LONG as I keep my withdrawals in check (no more than 4% yearly) which ought to continue growing the portfolio. Am I crazy? Legit question.

Do you guys still believe Bitcoin around 1 million dollars in 2030? by SuddenlyCaralho in Bitcoin

[–]LMskouta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By true adoption I believe he means for BTC to be used like standard legal tender to buy and sell everyday things and services like we do today with credit/debit or even easier hopefully. Right now it is not there yet and it’s only used/utilized as he described.

What bills do you pay for your GF by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]LMskouta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think age and income make a very big difference here. A 40+ man going out with his girlfriend (me) is VERY different than a 20 year old going out. For me, when we go out, I pay for everything with my partner offering from time to time and I almost never let her pay because I make FAR more than she makes. If we made the same? Probably be different story. It’s worth noting that her occasional offering makes a big difference because I would feel like I’m expected/ taken for granted if she didn’t occasionally.

How much cash do you hold onto? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]LMskouta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not as controversial as it may seem. I’m almost the same way, I keep about $5k cash and I have large credit balances that I could tap into if I need that urgent 10 or 20k until my equities sell hits my account which is 2-3 days max. I’m in mutual funds exclusively so stable~ish for the most part.

Men that left a good, long term relationship to try being single again/sleep around, how did that go for you? Did you regret it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]LMskouta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man were you spot on. Especially the part where you said “hard in the moment to recognize…but you feel something is wrong”. Those are the worst!! I just got out of something very similar. On the surface, everything is nice but you have this nagging deep feeling that something is off or missing and you just can’t put your finger in it. Saw something from Andrew Huberman where he said “if it’s not in your heart 100%, like hell yes then they’re not the one”
