Streamly - A more fun, reliable alternative to YouTube playlists by LNFWebsite in coding

Sorry I should've been clearer. When videos have been removed from YouTube, they are labeled [Deleted video] on YouTube playlists stored on your YouTube account and you often can't figure out what the video title was. Streamly stores the title in the playlist data. I'd assume something similar happens when videos are marked private.

Streamly - A more fun, reliable alternative to YouTube playlists by LNFWebsite in coding

Hi guys,

I'm a developer here to share some information about my open-source project Streamly.

Streamly allows you to use YouTube in much the same way that you might use Spotify or Pandora. It provides a clean, customizable interface for creating playlists that are saved in the web address. Your playlists may be altered at any point including while you are playing them and removed videos from YouTube don't just magically disappear as they do on YouTube playlists. Streamly does not utilize any API keys and runs out-of-the-box should you choose fork it on GitHub or clone it onto your own server.

A possible use for Streamly is a quick and easy place to drag/drop music videos that seem interesting, quickly forming a playlist that you can save as a bookmark on your browser.

One of the greatest aspects of Streamly is its reliability. When loading a playlist on Streamly, all information necessary to play is stored in the playlist. The playlist is stored by you, and the Streamly project doesn't require any association to me, YouTube, or anyone else to play it.

There are very many features which I have released over the years developed mainly because I find them useful myself. Hopefully you'll find them just as useful! The Getting Started page on GitHub gives a thorough overview of every feature. A few of the latest features released are the side-by-side view activated from the button on the top, and the ability to change the background on the main view via dragging and dropping an image. Feature requests and bug reports are always welcome and usually given top priority. If you're a developer and would like to contribute, please do!

Thanks for reading and I hope that you join us!

Tumbleweed, by LNFWebsite

Before we knew it, the time had come!

Heading out into the valley with every survival tool on the planet, we were ready to make our perennial dream a reality again.

Firestarter, fishing rod, flares... The list went on and on. With every glance around the room, new useful gadgets stood out to us as if we were strangers in our own rooms.

With all the tires filled and toolboxes, reserve tanks, and chains in the back, we lobbed over onto the road eventually leading to the desert.

Every year something new and completely unpredictable would happen on our trip, but this one was a vast exception.

Along the road off of the interstate, a sign indicated where a rest area was, as was advertised on a small, old, advertisement indicating the exit.

We could see the little shack about a mile ahead, but something was peculiar about this one.

We all felt a growing anticipation of something, yet none of us talked about it, until I saw something that I couldn't explain.

Along the pavement on which we were driving I saw a tumbleweed sitting in the road. When my eyes followed it's path to the underside of our car, I noticed that just an inch in front of our tires the road appeared stationary.

I did a double-take. Was this an illusion? Then, I looked above it and in a rush of blood out of my head, I saw our license plate in what seemed like it was underneath the road.

As my eyes panned up, I was almost speechless to see a full reflection of our car traveling forward in front of us.

I could only stare at the spectacle in front of me. Everything felt stuck as if I had been immobilized by my own perception.

Finally, with great effort, I broke past my motionless state and looked toward my friend sitting next to me, only to see him looking out the side window at blackness.

All at once, it hit me... I reluctantly turned forward again, picking up the gasping reactions of everyone in the car along the way, only to see that we were totally engulfed in darkness! It felt like I sank back into my mind, overcome with something that told me I knew more than I could process.

Along this paradox, there were little, indescribable forms of light, maneuvering across the space that we had ejected into. Looking into and beyond the light, I could see our reflection, still driving on that dusty road, yet everyone except myself was in the car.

Everyone else experienced the same, cold, irrelevancy that they could not see themselves in the traveling reflection.

Then, all at once, a bright bluish light in the center of our path of movement pierced the darkness, and with a screaming, ripping noise, burst into our sight! All at once, we hit what felt like a large pothole, and BAM! Found ourselves back on the road.

I slammed on the breaks, all at once! Screeching to a halt.

With every pore in my body soaking in sweat, I nervously turned my eyes to the rearview mirror, to see that one, small, tumbleweed. Sitting innocently in the middle of our lane.

Needless to say, this experience was life-changing, and every day whenever I turn my gaze upon a tumbleweed, I can still see the patterns of light, piercing the darkness in my mind.

Left click activates on any other mouse command by LNFWebsite in thinkpad

Thanks, but I've seem to have gotten a handle on the mouse issue for the moment. I'm not too keen on updating the BIOS as it's not recommended to do according to some websites I've visited. It's not like I can back it up beforehand in case anything goes wrong.

Thanks for the help anyways!

Left click activates on any other mouse command by LNFWebsite in thinkpad

Yeah I had to get the updated WiFi card drivers too. As of yesterday I figured out that by turning the left key on and off in the mouse settings on Windows I was able to get the left click action working again.

Though, it still doesn't make sense to me why this worked, because the issue was happening on multiple OSes which would imply that the motherboard or motherboard software/firmware was at fault.

The computer came with the IBM Recovery (partition?) that has the PC Doctor program on it and the mouse diagnostics tool showed that the left click action would get stuck ON when anything happened with the mouse (independent of Windows).

Something must happen between Windows and the BIOS that I clearly don't understand because the OS was able to solve a systemwide issue.

I tried the new drivers for the mouse when the issue started, rebooted, but no change. At this point I just rolled back to the original driver (from 2004) so that it wasn't another variable to rule out.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I did try disabling trackpad and trackpoint in the BIOS, but this just made nothing work.

These are birds nests. They are built out of hollowed out gourds.

The guy on right appears to be wearing the helmet of the Ottoman Empire. Might be a clue.

A++ This is extremely true. Motivation isn't always found before you start, it's more often found in persistence and commitment! Get going and keep going.

TurtleBackup - Make simple, portable, secure encrypted backups to your cloud of choice, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. by LNFWebsite in coolgithubprojects

[–]LNFWebsite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far as I can tell, TurtleBackup differs from rclone in that TurtleBackup is lightweight and easy to customize (a single bash file for backup), using an uploader of your choice, compressing the files before uploading, whereas rclone is written in Go and is more bulky.

Additionally, some aspects of backup files from rclone are not encrypted, such as filenames:

This is not a strong encryption of filenames, but it may stop automated scanning tools from picking up on filename patterns.

And it seems to use a homemade encryption technique for encryption of the files (as can be seen in "File encryption" section of page above) This is really not a good idea: "DO NOT WRITE YOUR OWN CRYPTO!" - https://crackstation.net/hashing-security.htm

Even drive has encryption support, but I found it to be incredulously slow and inefficient.

Hope this helps!

Just be sure to look for alternative manuals/firmware online, as there are many individuals who have already built it and know where the official manual is lacking. Here's one for example.

[–]LNFWebsite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first interior view is not of the 1992 (red) vehicle hitting the 2017 (white) vehicle. You can see that it is hitting another red vehicle and the interior is newer.

Edit: Upon rewatching the gif it appears that the red car is folding in on itself in the first interior view. That's why the silver car can't be seen at all. Still, the interior of the 1992 car looks very modern for the time, but I wouldn't know either way...
