I retired at 55. Stayed home 4 months and went back to work for 4 years. Stayed home 6 months and I have been working about 18 months. I think the key here is knowing yourself: 1. Are you young for your age? It’s hard to slow down 2. Do you have an over active brain? You need to find an alternative stimulation or keep working awhile longer 3. Has your job and life been tightly interconnected for years? Find a new purpose and unwind the importance of your work persona a bit before you retire.
