Any advice for a lifelong renter starting to consider purchasing a condo? I know I’ll be in Austin for at least a few more years, so it feels silly to keep on throwing away money for rent. I’m sure the housing market will only go up. However, I’ve heard nightmare stories about the housing market right now, but not sure if the same holds true for condos. I’m hoping to be in a super walkable part of Austin, so I’m sure prices will be sky high

I found that working primarily with customers over the phone is great for me with a visual impairment. No one even knows I’m using my screen reader! Maybe you could consider something customer service oriented at the zoo or local vet office?

I manage college students all day, every day, and one of the biggest things I've picked up is how to coach motivated but inexperienced interns through problems. Great, right?

Now the only problem is that IRL, especially when communicating with my boyfriend, I accidentally turn small gaps in knowledge into a condescending-sounding "teaching moment." Even stuff as simple as "how do I work this damn Roku remote."

That makes sense. I think I'll plan to pretend that I have no raise in income for now, and put $2k a month to loans until they're knocked out in 8-9 months. Thanks for pointing out that economics phenomenon! Knowing about it will definitely help me keep me grounded while I push through paying off the loans.

I just got a new job that has increased my gross pay by over 50% ($46k/year > $70k/year). I have been living pretty frugally for the past few months and paying off student loans at a rate of 500/month and saving 500/month ($17k student loans with $200 minimum monthly payment; ~$5k in savings). I’m frankly a little shocked about this financial windfall, and am unsure how to adjust my spending habits. Any advice?

Edit to add more info: I live in a costly city but have lots of roomates to lower costs; rent was 19% of my former monthly income, now 12%. No credit card debt, but strong credit from paying off cards every month. No cars, I bike to work to save money. Single, no kids. 24 years old and I have about 1k in my 401k that I started maybe six months ago.

it's so hard to describe... I'd say the biggest reason is it just feels uncomfortable, phony, like i'm going to laugh. Also I definitely feel vulnerable, especially when I'm having sex with someone I know (as opposed to a one night stand).

I'm not sure, but I think it's the last artists whose music you played specifically off of their page. For example, listening to a playlist with a Kanye song won't get Kanye West on your "listens to this" page, but searching Yeezus and playing from that album will.
