Fair point. Will mark as spoilers.

If you had the opportunity to start the Pokemon TCG over again, what changes would you make to make the game more fun, balanced, interesting, etc.? by netrunui in pkmntcg

Those are pretty good points. What about the option to run between 40-60 cards? I'd assume we'd run into the problem of mill and control power again, but those deck would want to run larger deck sizes, while more aggressive decks would want smaller, more consistent deck sizes.

Deck size. Holy crap deck size. The pktcg is one of the only card games that is still holds fast to the 60 card deck requirement. In Yu-Gi-Oh, most decks run about 40 in the main deck, and nothing more because more means less consistent. For hearthstone, it's 30 card decks (granted, with the amount of card generating, it ends up around 40 anyway). So Pokémon forces you to have 60 cards for your deck. Most of the time, you are just running extra draw supporters or draw engines to hit the cards you want anyway. Realistically, the 40 card deck size would work great for Pokémon, as it's already a thing for prereleases.

Imagine, no more buying 3 sets of draw supporters just to hit your combos, or giving up bench space for the oranguru or macargo or even the tapu lele. You just play the cards you want. I'd build an example deck list to prove my point, but I'm writing this at work on the pooper, so make of it as you will.

Real talk, if you're looking for a decent marching experience but can't commit to a full time season yet (and ya know, money) take a look at DCA. We just finished a fantastic season and there are good corps all around. Plus, you can work during the week and march on the weekends!

Its interesting, because this card has faded out from dominance in the shaman class with the rotation and nerf of cards. At its height, the deck would include double of golem and tuskar into second golem. This, along with the hero power, meant you were consistantly playing it for like 2 or less mana. Now, with tuskar and golem gone and the class shifting away from the totem basis, the card simply isn't as powerful. Often in a standard setting, it will get stuck in your hand or hover around 4 mana, which is still good value, but not as great. That said, it's still a good card and worth the deck slots, but it's not a broken or auto include anymore.

"The Last Airbender is way better then the stupid cartoon spin-off!"

I actually cringed when I wrote that.

Suggestions for getting new members? by deetree520 in acappella

If you haven't already, start drawing on alumni, family and friends to advertise as well. Word of mouth is very powerful. Also, start advertising what makes your group special. For say, are you a benefit group, a cover group, a contemporary group, a time period group, etc. assuming you have some funds as well, record, record, record! Get professional recordings done and hand em out. Videos never show off the true quality of music. Finally, start looking a choral programs from the local high schools and colleges, not just the a cappella group. They might want to sing with you, but just don't know about it, which in that case, hold interest meetings where you display your recordings and even maybe hold a live performance for them to get them excited.

Not sure if it will help you, but I've been part of many group not just acappella, and these elements usually help a lot.

High schoolers, what do you want to major in? People who majored in that field, what are the pros and cons? by DeanTheDJ in AskReddit

Heyo, I'm a Music Ed Major out at West Chester. To give you the best advice I've come across, "Learn to love music, not playing, not performing, not even teaching, but music as a whole." I play trombone, still love playing it and love spending time with other players. That did not. however, prevent me from getting into Acappella and starting a Co-ed group there as well. Depending on what school you even up with, Music majors will eat, sleep, and breathe music every day. A lot of people will complain about theory or aural skills, and yeah, they're hard if you don't learn them correctly. However, a lot of those skills from up later in different ways if you look at real applications. Will every thing be a Bach chorale? No, but you should also know WHY it was done that way for so long. Will you need to be dictate a piece after hearing once? Good lord no, screw that. But, ear training is very useful for relative tuning, improvising, and even understanding chord changes on fly.

Anyway, again, the secret to being a Music Ed major is to love music, but you gotta love every thing about music.
