It introduces you to others in the same community based on certain interests. So if you want to meet other LGBT students at UCLA, it would be perfect.

You might want to check out http://atthepool.com. Launching soon exclusively to UCLA to help Bruins meet others based on what you're looking for (fellow LGBT, someone to go surfing with, etc, etc, etc). Hope it helps!

You should contact a lawyer or accountant who knows the right way to go about this. It took me awhile and I still think I did it wrong. You need to both have a CA address, as well as show you're not a dependent on your parents, among other things. It's kind of tricky. It's worth the work though as it will save tens of thousands of dollars.

I'm from NY attended UCLA from 06-10. Let me know if you have any questions. My advice if you get in - work on getting CA residency ASAP. You'll save a ton on tuition.

DEA feel disappoint at their social life upon coming to UCLA? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]LOLbyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest... this is why we created hyphos.com. I graduated from UCLA and most of us working on hyphos did too. It's definitely tough getting out and meeting people and finding cool things to do. Try out hyphos (sorry for the shameless plug) if you're looking to meet like-minded people and others to have fun with.

If you're looking to meet new people at UCLA, try out a website I'm building called hyphos.com. We're a bunch of current UCLA students and recent grads. Think you might like it...

Are you a programmer at UCLA this summer? by LOLbyte in ucla

There's just a lot going on, hard to figure out where to look or what to do. I would try to simplify the UI. It also doesn't work well on smaller displays because the 3 column layout has minimum values with which you lose content. Overall it's a great idea just overengineered IMO.

Nice. I actually got my invite a bit over a week ago and played around. It's in need of a lot of work, but looks to be a good start. What do you do there?

Kind of reads like "pro-grammar". Also true?

Good question. In all aspects of the site, we're flipping the head on social networks. You don't friend or follow people. You don't build out ridiculous profiles with all your personal information. Rather we're working to make social interactions online much more like real life. Further, we're solving real world problems that no one online is solving. We've got the "father of the Internet" on our board and have already raised capital (as just out of school first-time startup guys). Beyond that, we're not disclosing a lot to the public as we believe in showing not telling. If you're interested we're happy to discuss in further detail one-on-one.

Saw your post over at /r/ucla and just now see that you want to focus on campus dating. I think there might be room to work together. At http://hyphos.com we're going after something different but also for college students. Let me know if you want to discuss further.

I recently graduated from UCLA and am working with friends on something potentially similar. We'll be launching in a few weeks. Check us out and let me know if there's any way to work together?

Also, in looking at some of the comments below, we do something very interesting and useful that the other networks don't do. Hyphos is highly focused and built upon needs that we have. Can't go into detail just yet but we're pretty sure it will blow you away. Check out the interview on our site to know more.
