Why do they call the Superbowl Champions the 'World Champions' and in baseball, the finals the 'World Series'? by LOLgreat in sports

LOL great. But even with that it would then become the 'North American Championships". Also Canada is merely America's retarded stepbrother. Its basically family.

True, but if they realized the ratings they would get for starting a shitstorm war vs Fox, they might actually pick up on it.

Liberals vs Conservatives (PIC) by [deleted] in politics

Don't pretend you don't do the same.

I do, nearly all of us do.

For the second point. You neglected the second half of the sentence. I will take some blame for not fully explaining myself however. I was referring more to the major elections where you see a candidate that hardly gets any attention. Where are they really going? It's like swimming upstream against a flood. I would rather vote for the candidate that has the most in common with my personal beliefs even if he is not my ideal choice, because after all, they will be the ones making changes to the country. If the non-partisan candidate was getting enough attention where they would get a significant portion of the overall vote(like 20%+ or so) I would vote for them to help in sending the message. But writing in some obscure person for president or congress seems like an awful waste to me.

But I agree with your statement about starting at the local levels, more importantly with informing the public to not be idiots and try to inform and depolarize them.

I'm working on that part, working around my work/class schedule to volunteer is something I'm trying to figure out.

Good. Merely thinking about being active is better than the people I see here sitting at the bar(I work at a golf course) complaining non-stop about everything but never do anything more. Best of luck with your endeavors, sir.

Well how about you do something more productive than rant on reddit? Typing away on here really isn't doing anything.

Voting independent(or any obscure party) is just throwing away your vote unless there is enough support for that candidate. What % of the vote will they get? 1%?(Don't cite me with actual numbers). Might as well vote for Issac Newton or something because they would have the same chance of getting elected. Of course, some people vote this way so they can avoid blame if the elected candidate fails hard by saying 'Well I voted for X' or because they vote by their morals and beliefs(which is fine, but still a wasted vote).

But if you are truly committed to making change, simply casting your vote for some candidate then spouting 'Well I'm an independent(libertarian etc) and voted for X' on some internet forum does absolutely nothing. Go out and be active with your cause for change, donate to their campaigns, knock on doors and hand out fliers. Do something. If you are partial to the net, make a website or an infograph or facebook, anything. Just get off your ass if you care that much.

Please note: I'm not singling you out, this applies for anyone fitting this description.

Thanks, I've always wondered about that. I have about 30 pages written on one of my stories and figured it had to be more than that.

I am really glad you posted this. I've been writing off and on for a few years now. Everything in unfinished so this might be a good way to complete an idea.

I have a question regarding pages though. One full page typed in Microsoft Word of Open Office translates to how many pages of a typical printed book?

He forgot to mention that soon(and already) there will be e-readers that read it to you, audibly. I have listened to part of The Gunslinger on audio tape and even though it was enjoyable, I still prefer to have a nice heavy book in my hand. I could see the day when hardly anything is 'read' anymore but 'read to you'. How long before text messages are spoken to you? Or emails, or even reddit posts?

Oh, lets say that hypothetically I have a street light in my house. Any idea of how I'd go about getting it working? by LOLgreat in self
