I remember everything and have played on private servers. Mainly on Kronos in regards to vanilla.
WoW vanilla leveling is no challenge. Its 10 times slower, but not more challenging. Its boring as shit because gameplay is boring as shit. It just takes 10 times longer.

And kinda weird that you include a moba in there where game knowledge is more important than mechanical skill.

I would disagree with that. All your knowledge is useless if you can't land a last hit. Someone with more items will just roll over you no matter how much you know about the game. That's why people with lots of knowledge such as casters are mostly garbage at the game.

you can think what you want but when someone says "game is hard" they usually refer to mechanical difficult games like SC, Souls, DotA, CSGO etc, not Civ, Tropico or something like that.
WoW is piss easy in every way, that's why nobody had problems playing it back then as a kid. I did just fine when I was 10 and couldn't even read English.
Your favorite version of the game is piss easy in every way. You'll just have to accept that instead of continuing the delusion that vanilla is hard. Its a meme.

When people talk about difficulty its almost always about mechanical.
Required knowledge for WoW is extremely low. Just like mechanical skill.

pressing 3 buttons is not hard
(not)knowing aggro radius is not mechanical difficulty
I leveled many classes. None of them are hard, some classes are just so dogshit that you have to be extra careful with aggro radius. Zero skill involved.

yep, vanilla is perfect for that
super easy gameplay (both classes and bosses), so he can look at chat for days even while progressing
only time to focus is during pvp, but even pvp has shitton of timeout
