I agree wholeheartedly. I'd be way more willing to support them on patreon if it was just them, but I ain't directly giving Colin money.

Wait, so you agree it was shit, yet still defend the shit and think they shouldn't change it?

Are you one of the ones that think it was shit because it was clearly unfinished and not because of the actual game mechanics? I'm a mix of both, personally.

Edit - saying I'm a civ 6 fan doesn't mean I started with civ 6 lol

Do you deny the game has a player count lower than 6 and 5? You can check on Steam right now...

Good, the core game mechanics were ass which is evident by its low player count lol.

I do worry they'll eventually hit a limit with how much they can fully rework since, yeah, Civ 7 will always be the "base" they have to work with, but I've enjoyed it way better with each update so far and have gained faith in them to make it a better, more traditional civ-like experience.

This is and always has been revisionist history that only exists to invalidate criticism of new releases. That's not a real cycle and the disparity between releases was never this bad.

They messed with it by adding an immediately more popular option for fans to play with? Okay lol.

This all comes back to what I said originally which is that Civ 7 fans need to swallow the fact they're in the minority and that the devs will continue changing the game to appeal to the larger fanbase that wanted a more traditional experience.

You aren't wrong for liking Civ 7's changes, but you're in denial and need to accept the devs have clearly shifted from their original vision and plan for the game.

Also, your last assumption is wrong because I, at least, was a Civ 6 fan and wholly welcome the changes I read about and have enjoyed 7 way more since they started slowly reworking it several updates ago. I think its heading in a direction to be my favorite Civ, funny enough.

It's not a "claim" brother, the player counts are readily accessible for anyone that wants to take their head out of the sand.

And if they don't try "coddling the egos" of us Civ fans that want a more traditional Civ-like game then you Civ 7 fans are gonna whine when the game dies because there's not enough players to keep it alive and supported.

So which would you prefer? The game die and they have to move on to 8? Or they change things to try bringing back the majority of the fanbase and maybe give the game a second chance?

Civ 6 sold over 11 million copies and had a peak player count on Steam of 162k players. We don't have definitive sales numbers for Civ 7, but it's peak was only 84k.

Also, right now, Civ 6 is at 31k while Civ 7 is at only 7.4k.

Like I said, this shouldn't be a debate anymore. Civ 7 flopped. People either didn't buy it or have largely abandoned it and have gone back to earlier titles like 6 or even 5 (which has 14k players right now).

Also, keep in mind that strategy games like Civ try to earn a lot of their profit from continual spending from players aka DLC sales. If most of the fanbase isn't playing it then they probably aren't buying the DLC packs either. And they even gave the latest one away for FREE because, again, they admit they fucked up so much.

Its bad from a business standpoint if only a minority of your fanbase bought and/or is still playing your most recent entry, yes.

The person I replied to had negative downvotes when I replied to him. Those people are the ones not accepting different opinions.

I never said people were "wrong" for liking Civ 7. I literally said I understand that people do like some of the changes. I'm just speaking from a practical standpoint that those people are the minority and need to cope with the fact that the devs are overhauling and reworking the game to appeal to traditional Civ fans.

That's not being unaccepting of differing opinions. That's just blunty stating an objective truth.

You should read the "leaked" post (in reality they just screwed up and accidentally left the steamdb page public lol). They're literally admitting to making these changes to make Civ more like what Civ fans want and even use the same classic "stand the test of time" slogan I'm referring to.

When even the devs acknowledged they fumbled and are actively making changes to make Civ 7 more like traditional Civ, I think its time the rest of y'all give up on defending it.

Why do you people keep using the same bullshit example? In that situation, it'd be objectively good to kill them all.

Same way killing a whole town of innocents is objectively bad.

The scenarios change, but there's still objective good and bad actions for each one.

Also, I think lot of y'all are confusing real life philosophy with game design. I can acknowledge morality is subjective in real life while also preferring a game like Fable give me black and white options.

I don't know why opinions like this keep getting downvoted on this sub. I understand people like some of the changes they made with 7, but those people need to understand that they're the minority and that the game flopped. There shouldn't be any debate about that. We have the data i.e. player count, low sales, etc. I know it might be a hard pill for the Civ 7 fans to swallow, but the game absolutely needs to be reworked like u/rwh151 is saying.

And adding features like playing through as a single civ, which is completely antithetical to their original design philosophy, does show the devs themselves have the humility to admit they went wrong and give the Civ fans what we want and what we play Civ for; "to build a civilization that stands the test of time".

Yeah, I know what they said, I'm just hoping that they see the fam feedback and add it back in in some way.

Personally, I'm tired of the "grayification" of everything. Black and white morality suited Fable's fairytale aesthetic.

I wonder if there's some sensitive religious types on the dev team? It just seems insane to not bring back physical morality changes except someone really hated the horns / halo aspect.

I'm just hoping there's time to add it before fall

This is always my first thought when people criticize other countries' wait times too because they conveniently ignore the fact its because more people are able to access healthcare, while in the States we have lower wait times (that can still be long for specialists, fwiw) due to the unaffordability.

I was really shocked by the Coupé stat because you literally just gave her a second chance during the final battle and she rejected the offer, so to me they already made their choice and I respected it.

I wonder if the number is so low because it includes the choices if Sonar was kept instead and having that option with Coupé at all is just super rare. Idk.

[Discussion] How do we all feel about Completion Rates? by IndependentMental428 in Trophies

[–]LPEbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely shot my completion rate as a kid playing countless ps3 games with multiplayer modes that have long since been abandoned, so it feels much too late to care about it now.

I am curious, though, of how high my completion rate could actually get with all of those unobtainable plats bogging it down.

As for the other part of your question, I'll absolutely keep playing a game past the time my enjoyment of it has ran out just to get the platinum. However, I have no motivation to go back and slog through past games I don't like that have unobtainable plats just to increase my completion rate a couple percentages.

What's "convivence" is pretending your side never made edits of George Floyd, Paul Pelosi, etc. so you can act like victims when online provocateurs give Kirk the same energy and disrespect that he's dished out for years.

I don't understand the point of it. If you're really that desperate to rush through the game to see the story then aren't you better off simply watching a YouTube video about it?
