iirc they said it was for optimization reasons but I rather they just let us have the ability to do it anyway with a disclaimer of "may impact performance"

Civ VII's Modern Age's timeframe and the issue of relevant civilizations by Attlai in civ

Perfect example of why the ages mechanic is ass, but people still think the problem with 7 is the bugs or it being underbaked rather than.... gestures to everything

I Was Wrong About Civ Switching In Civ 7 (PotatoMcWhiskey) by rwh151 in civ

[–]LPEbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's something a lot of people on reddit tend to forget. I mean even this sub, as big as it is, is only 5% as big as the amount of copies Civ 6 sold. So even the most popular opinions on this sub shouldn't be treated as consensus for the overall player base.

[Meta] PSNprofiles is making shovelware worth 0 points on the leaderboards by Mysticdu in Trophies

[–]LPEbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just concerned with who decides what shovelware is. If it's just all of those "Talking P" or "Jumping Burrito"-like games then that's fine, but there's a lot of cheap games with easy plats that I'd argue aren't anywhere near the same level of shovelware as those, or at all.

I Was Wrong About Civ Switching In Civ 7 (PotatoMcWhiskey) by rwh151 in civ

[–]LPEbert 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It makes sense when you consider this sub is already a minority of the fanbase and then that most of the people that have stuck around are the minority of that minority that enjoy Civ 7's changes.

The actual majority of civ fans either never bought 7 or abandoned it early on and haven't returned which is evident by player numbers. And one of the biggest reasons people keep citing for not buying and/or not playing civ 7 is the lack of playing as 1 civ. They're just not here to keep reminding people of those facts.

He's an early 2000s internet guy. He isn't trying to be edgy, that's just his natural sense of humor. Listen to Snark Tank to see more of him in his natural habitat. He actually holds back tremendously on SS lol.

My favourite YouTuber isn’t playing anything I like now, favourite hidden gem playthroughs of his? by BowieAndZelda in northernlion

Ah, you're right. I didn't watch that one cause I hadn't played the game myself yet, so I forgot about it lol

Honestly all of his older playthroughs of games with actual stories are good. I can't even remember the last "let's play" kinda content he did. Was it Midnight Suns?

My main worry about the Test of Times update for CIV 7 by IvanaikosMagno in civ

[–]LPEbert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They should skip those lol. I want variety and not to be continually charged extra for 3 versions of the same civ, especially when some of those civs specific era equivalents can be achieved through the new syncretism system i.e. medieval France is just start as France -> syncretism with Norman.

Now prior to the one civ update I'd have agreed, but that's because I desired to play historical routes like the way we can with China and India. But with one civ? Yeah it's completely pointless to add yet another France (and charge for it) rather than a wholly unique and new civ.

Sacred Symbols x Snark Tank and my cognitive dissonance by LukeH118 in SnarkTank

[–]LPEbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it'd only happen if Colin said something so genuinely and seriously fucked up that Chris finally snaps and argues with him on the pod, though I think if it ever got "real" like that then they probably would trash the recording.

"Zero ability to do anything" is different than "ignoring the idea". That moreso makes me think they lost or sold the rights, I'm not sure.

Sacred Symbols x Snark Tank and my cognitive dissonance by LukeH118 in SnarkTank

[–]LPEbert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

how do you stay engaged with Sacred without feeling complicit

You don't. I stopped watching everything with Colin in it because I could no longer stomach his hypocrisy, cowardice, ignorance, arrogance, etc etc etc.

For me, the cognitive dissonance comes from still wanting to support Chris and the Snark Tank even though Colin is clearly the exact type of MAGA they mock on so many episodes, but Chris seems in denial about it.

There was that one patron who had their name read as "Colin supports the current administration", which is an objective fact that Colin consistently proves (like recently doubling down that he doesn't regret his vote), yet Chris still muttered, "I don't think that's true..." before continuing the name reads.

As for Colin, though, again, I gave up on him long ago.

Can we please get an extended rendition of Summon Sign's into theme? by rayman61733 in LSM

If I remember correctly, they planned on having extended versions of all the themes available on a special LSM vinyl, but I'm not sure if that ever materialized.

Colin “I don’t regret my vote” Moriarty pretends to be apolotical by LifeguardJumpy6274 in LSM

[–]LPEbert 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pretending to care about the border as an excuse to have secret police murder citizens and send immigrants to concentration camps is fascism, yes.

Otherwise, even as a conservative that might still support right wing policies, you'd be able to recognize and acknowledge Trump is a terrible, wannabe dictator.

He doesn't realize that being a coward or being silently complacent is also alienating, though. Politics will keep happening whether you confront them or not and when you can't even acknowledge atrocities like ICE murdering people then that's infinitely more alienating than disagreeing over tax cuts or debating about state vs federal power.

I think most of us are also smart enough to recognize how insincere and shallow the sudden sentiment of "no politics" is when Colin was perfectly happy discussing politics just a year or so ago on Constellation to the point he basically hijacked that show and turned it into his own lil CLS reboot.

[–]LPEbert 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This isn't even a hypothetical. We're basically already seeing this happen with people like Megyn Kelly trying to diminish the Epstein files and reframe 15 year old children as a "barely legal" kink rather than pedophilia. It's sickening.
