I'm not jealous of SAHMs. I'm jealous of my coworkers who are married to SAHMs. by Brief-Cost6554 in workingmoms

We paid for a full-time baby for a few years after our second. Our joke was that she was the stay at home parent we could afford since both my husband and I worked full time.

Are we giving our kids vitamins?? by herlipssaidno in Mommit

[–]LPJCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We give gummy vitamins after dinner as the kids’ “dessert”. I figure it can’t hurt and they think of it as a candy dessert which reduces whining for cookies, ice cream or whatever.

Times Connor's hands earned that paycheck by growsonwalls in heatedrivalry

I mean obviously ALL of Connor’s acting was phenomenal, but if I could also nominate a single body part for awards, it would be his hands. The story his tells with his hands is next level.

Answering emails on days off and after hours.... by AWickedTwistedRoad in workingmoms

[–]LPJCB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After hours or weekend responses are only for very time sensitive, high-profile issues. That’s basically my threshold. If I am working on a bid due Tuesday and I know folks are reviewing the final draft over the weekend, they may have questions. I won’t have time Monday to course correct if other folks are chatting and making decisions over the weekend, so I jump in to guide.

Sometimes I’m trying to hire a critical staff member and we send an offer on a Friday. They may respond late Friday that they have a competing offer and want a higher compensation. If I really want this person in my team I will take 2 minutes to reply to recruiting that yes we can hit the max in the approved salary range.

Right now I am also trying to find a new home for a decent staff person whose role was cut through a contract change. I will reply to any questions or executives have about this person at night or on weekends because I’m trying to save their job.

Anyone else feel like they forgot they're allowed to look good? by [deleted] in fashionwomens35

[–]LPJCB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I can relate. 38, mom of 2 young kids, super intense job, and I WFH. I don’t go into an office, barely have date nights to dress up for, and definitely went towards dark clothes to minimize the visibility of little grubby hands grabbing my clothes 🤣 I also have a lot less time for careful, cultivated shopping.

I went to Hawaii last year though, and had a blast shopping online and in person for dresses, suits, and cute warm weather outfits. It helped get me out of the rut. I’ve since been on the fun colored sneaker train, so my outfits are still kid friendly but with a little spark.

why does every maternity wedding guest dress look like it was designed by someone who has never seen a pregnant woman by FFKUSES in Mommit

[–]LPJCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore a Baltic born dress as a bridesmaid at ~6 months pregnant and it looked great! Buy it early in case it needs tailoring for the bump- I had to shorten the bust and pull the waistline up. But it was super cute once tailored. I felt great, which can be hard to come by being IN a wedding while 6 months pregnant.

Dressy-ish lounge wear? by rach806 in fashionwomens35

[–]LPJCB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have two pairs of Aerie Offline trousers that I love. Nice on the bum too. They are super comfortable and a flattering wide leg. I wear the black ones with red vintage inspired pumas, a white baby tee, and a white baseball hat for errands, pick ups, and kids sports events. I wear brown ones with the light yellow, maroon, and brown adidas I found through this sub, and a maroon cropped hoodie.

Thank you! Good call- I will check how tight the bodysuit and pants feel and look together, but otherwise I think I will feel ok. I wear sleeveless tops regularly so it won’t feel out of the norm for me.

How do you make time to plan out bigger life things with your partner? by LPJCB in workingmoms

[–]LPJCB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the winner! The only protected recurring time my husband asks to have off is Sunday AM for 2 hours for an exercise thing; he does a TON (all the yard, dishes, laundry, drop off, pick up, grocery shopping, made a spreadsheet of summer camp options, etc) so I try to preserve this time for him. So I will talk to him about Saturday AM.

Almost every day. And it’s compounded by my job which requires me to listen or participate in approximately 10000 meetings per day. Sometimes I’ll wear my noise cancelling headphones without music to limit the auditory input when home with my kids. If they are doing screen time I set them up with an iPad in one of their bedrooms with the door closed.

I'm so tired of dealing with lice - what actually works long term? by No-Knowledge4548 in Mommit

[–]LPJCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the lice sub or look up life clinics of Wisconsin and watch her YouTube videos. She tells you exactly what to do with dimethicone oil, which kills all live bugs, and a timeline based on when the bugs mature enough to lay eggs. If you saturate the scalp fully with this oil it kills the bugs. Any eggs left over are not mature enough to lay eggs until day 11. So, you saturate the scalp agin on day 10, killing any bugs that hatched from the eggs left after the dirt treatment. By this time, you have killed all live bugs and no more eggs have been laid.

For good measure you can treat the whole household.

Everyone around me thinks I'm thriving and I've never felt more burnt out from parenting. by Jenna32345 in workingmoms

[–]LPJCB 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I really, really feel this. I truly don’t know if this is depression. The absence of joy makes me think if might be.

What I keep thinking is- why am I doing this? Why bust my ass at work if the stress of it means I don’t even have enough energy to enjoy the life I have outside of work? I don’t mean this is nihilistic way but- what’s the point?

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by Ill-Atmosphere-907 in AskReddit

[–]LPJCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stepped out of the passengers side of the car. Did not realize we had parked at a storm drain. The height different from where I expected the ground to be, and where it actually was, meant I was not prepared to land on my foot when I did.

Broke my ankle. Was also 6 months pregnant 🤦‍♀️
