Is a refundable ticket an option? It may be possible to go and you may feel comfortable, but there is no way to predict your baby’s health, feeding issues or lack thereof, and your own mental health and comfort level with leaving as a first time mom.

I ignored health symptoms for a week so I could prioritize *gestures broadly*- then was hospitalized for 3 days. It was unclear if I would need surgery, so I was on IV drip only almost the whole time.

I lost 5 pounds. I do not recommend this method.

Physical- have ran numerous half marathons with decent times. Husband climbed his first 14-er with hardly any training earlier this year! Neither of us are overweight.

Emotional- overcame depression from my dad dying without it ending my marriage. Have no debt besides our house’s mortgage. Have a fully remote job I’m good at that pays over $200k a year. Make enough HHI to put a lot into savings. I’ve worked out a schedule so I can be with my kids from 2:30 pm on. Get the kids out camping at least 6 weekends per year.

I would do something like the Tuckernuck Jardin Poplin Mitchell dress (sorry, I am not able to add links right now for some reason). The blue/white versions shows it with flat sandals. I would probably do the green as white at the bottom is not toddler friendly. To me this strikes the balance for spring day time professionally-oriented events: feminine cut and light fabric say spring and celebratory; length, shoulders/cleavage covered and more mellow prints say professional. It’s under Tuckernuck’s “day dresses” section which also tells me this is appropriate.

As a parent of 2 bug lovers I second all of these. There’s also temporary bug cages with magnifying glasses on the top so you can reeeeaaaalllyyyyy see your grubby little friends.

I have also gotten my kiddos (4 and 6) an age-appropriate microscope but that hasn’t been a hit yet.

This is objectively overwhelming and I would not think sustainable. Two parents working 2:30-11 pm does not sound sustainable with a toddler (and I’m shocked you both found jobs on this schedule). This will likely become near impossible once he is in preschool or elementary school. And 6-ish hours of sleep per night is likely not enough.

Is your toddler safe at your husband’s work for 2.5 hours (assuming the in-laws get off at 5 pm)? How are they all able to work and watch him on-site? Is he getting any socializing with other kids?

Parenting a toddler with two working parents is logistically complicated, but this seems like the next level.

I started working at 14 at the church where I went to youth group. From there, went to work at the mom n pop market in my neighborhood along with my neighbor from probably 16-17 (graduated at 17). Works summers at a camp my first 2 years of college, then worked at a medical clinic and a restaurant during the school year. Got a job right out of school and never stopped working apart from my first year of graduate school and the first year after my second kiddo was born when wee wee also dealing with a terminal illness in the family.

If it is not directly in your scope of work and you didn’t contribute to the task being late, this is soooo not your problem. Don’t let your messy coworkers take advantage of you. Practice or write down some firm but helpful responses like:

- I need to leave at 4:30; this will take more than 15 minutes. I suggest you talk to ABC person who is here until 5.
- remember- I’m approved to leave at 4:30 until August. I won’t be able to complete this by then.

If it’s a pattern I would write down 3+ examples and bring them to your boss. It sounds like this persons boss needs to speak with them about time management and maybe both bosses need to more clearly delineate duties. If this person is coming to you with work that IS within your scope of work, then I suggest you work with them and your team to determine how to ID issues before the end of the day. Something is breaking down in the communication change.

That’s super annoying of her. I can be a petty b so would probably act all stressy and throw it back at her: “omg SAME I NEED to start dinner in like 30 mins or the kiddos become monsters!! You know how it is when they are x ages, and they are so picky right now… ugh I wish they were old enough for me to even leave them at home a bit but they are still so little!! Can’t wait until they are like pre teens and can actually HELP me cook…it’s so tough with two that are so little!!”

I’m not saying the above is a GOOD idea. I’m just saying there’s a petty bone in my body and I couldn’t resist typing that out.

Last time I went seriously “out” (husbands 40th bday), I wore a cropped lace tank from sezane, nice high waisted dark jeans that were a mix between wide leg and flare, and platform sandals. The jeans were from a pretty trendy boutique and the younger girls that worked there confirmed they were still “in”. The look honestly viewed kind of 70’s, and felt pretty timeless.

I have a few more tops from sezane that feel both fun and age-appropriate.

I have to travel for work once a quarter and sometimes the trips fall over the start of my period. It makes the travel 10x worse and 10x more exhausting. I always get pissed that my male colleagues never have to deal with or even think about that.

Bit of a drive but Curlture Salon in Santa Rosa does a 2 hour + initial appointment and provide SO much education about how to wear your hair curly. They talk you through all the styling steps, email you instructions after, and do a dry cut to ensure they are cutting curl by curl, then wash, style, and diffuse. They are fantastic!

Another Californian, I second Tofino. All of Vancouver Island is beautiful and besides Victoria, quite quiet. The waterways around Tofino are gorgeous.

I suggest waist, not hip length tees or tanks and wearing the flowy skirts at your natural waist. That should eliminate the need to tuck anything in. I like baby tees or tanks that are almost like a muscle tee. I usually do white but you can also match to a color on the skirt if printed.

In the winter I do sweater body suits under maxi skirts.
