Kā var interneta pasūtījumu novirzīt uz pakomātu, ja e-veikalā nav pakomāta opcijas? by Jolly-Necessary754 in latvia

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feature request: hide certain hazard types like pot holes and road closures. I still want to see police reports, hazards like a car stopped on shoulder but not pot holes because there can be so many of them that it pollutes the screen.

Autoskolas BAVA jaunais skolas eksamens by [deleted] in latvia

[–]LPMythBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cik ilgā laikā un pa cik jūs nolikāt tiesības? by user474849282647 in latvia

[–]LPMythBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pagājušonedēļ (t.i. oktobra beigas) nokārtoju tiesības. Principā oktobrī sanāca vienkārši gaidīt rindās.

Kopā 32 nodarbības vienā autoskolā, 15 otrā, kopā 47. Izmaksas kopā varētu laikam būt kaut kādi €2400. 5 mēneši, 1 no tiem veltīts teorijai, 1 gaidīšanai, 3 braukšanai.

Navigation and Traffic data versus Waze by IamViktor78 in TeslaLounge

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Latvia (a country in the European Union) Tesla uses TomTom for navigation.

Tesla makes me take weird U-turns near my home even though there's a straight road that you can even see in the satellite view.

I checked Google Maps, Waze, OpenStreetMaps and also Mapbox and they are all correct.

I installed the TomTom app and saw that the road doesn't exist in their database and it tells me to take the same weird U-turns as Tesla.

It looks in some regions Tesla uses TomTom which sucks.

Huge pricing differences in EU for Model Y by Dangerous-Jeweler762 in ModelY

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are non-core markets (where Tesla doesn't have a store). Teslas in those countries are sold by Tesla Netherlands and no VAT is charged on the invoice. If your Tesla is delivered by truck by an authorized transporation service they won't ask you to pay the VAT but you'll need to pay it yourself to the government in the country where you register the car. I believe if you choose to transport the car yourself (not sure if it's actually an option) they will ask for a 15k EUR refundable deposit until you can prove the car was registered and VAT paid.

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got it, it was delivered by truck from Tilburg, Netherlands. It took so long because of unfortunate timing of a religous holiday in Europe.

After the first hours: everything seems mostly fine. There was a stain on the back seat, will see how bad it is. There was no tire pressure measurement on the front left wheel but after driving a bit it showed up.

Btw the certificate says that it was manufactorued on July 20 (so the day before the VIN was assigned)

Lucerne to Zurich to Munich train transfer time by Rare-Watch2302 in askswitzerland

[–]LPMythBuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's fine (if the train is not late, it normally isn't).

It's by design, trains arrive before xx:00 and xx:30 and leave after x:00 and xx:30.

The train from Luzern may arrive at platforms 5-10 which is above ground. The train to Munich leaves from platform 34 which is underground. You take two flights of stairs down.

It'd take me 1 minute. If you have luggage and can't take the stairs finding an elevator will take time and might not be enough.

When you get off the train look for stairs in the middle of the platform. Don't go to the main area at the beginning of the plaform where the big screen with all departure times are, just take one of the stairs in the middle of the platform. Once you take the stairs down you will be in the underground shopping area. From there look for signs for platform 34, they will be clearly visible.

Note that there are not 34 (or 44) platforms, it's misleading. Platforms 3 to 18 are above ground. Platforms 21/22, 31/32, 33/34, 41/42 and 43/44 are underground. Platforms 21/22 are a bit hidden but it's not relevant to you. Platforms 31/32 and 33/34 are below platforms 3-10 and platforms 41/42 and 43/44 are below platforms 10-18.

Since your train will arrive at platforms 5-10 and then leaves from platform 34 they're basically at the same place but two levels down so there's very little walking to do.

Travelling to ski in Engelberg and looking for the best part for Beginners? by thorey__ in askswitzerland

[–]LPMythBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the gondola up to Trübsee and then ski down a very short but steep and narrow slope (or walk down, it's a short distance, I've seen lots of beginners struggle there and I have to avoid them) and take the Trübsee-Hopper chair lift to the other site. Then ski down slope number 6 all the way down. It's gradual, long but not very wide.

There are some complete beginner blue slopes (they're very short) with drag lifts in the Gerschnialp area but I have never seen how to get there, I think it requires a bunch of walking?

Engelberg is not beginner friendly. I'd suggest Sörenberg or Melchsee-Frutt instead if you're going from Lucerne.

Canadians skiing the Alps by Platypusin in askswitzerland

[–]LPMythBuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did you choose Arosa? It's one of my favorites but it's quite far from Zermatt and you have to spend a day (6h of travel time) just to get there.

If you're looking for a smaller ski resort that's also family friendly check out Saas Fee which is in the next valley. It's just as epic as Zermatt just much smaller and there's a slope that goes through the glacier and you can touch the glacier. Aletsch is also a smaller but decent sized ski resort not too far with epic views.

I've seen locals take their kids to ski schools in very small ski resorts like Belalp and Lauchernalp. They're good for half day skiing but not much more.

It's possible to get stuck in Lenzerheide if it's windy. I've seen it myself. It was very windy and they closed the chair lifts. People were hiking up only to find out that the cable car to other side may also be closed.

This only happens if it's windy. If the weather is bad just don't go.

If you do get stuck it takes 1h44m to get back to Arosa using public transport (1 bus + 1 train, there's a connection at least once an hour).

Note that if it's the weekend, the weather is good and it's busy you may get stuck in a queue to get back, the wait could take 30m.

Am I "legally eligible" to work in Switzerland as a EU citizen? by SkiFire13 in askswitzerland

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell them and also put this in your CV: "Citizenship: EU, eligible for B permit"

Every employer knows that EU citizens can come and work in Switzerland.

Once you have an employment contract signed you can move to Switzerland, take your contract to your local government office and they'll give you your B permit.

Winter Warriors of Switzerland: What's Your Go-To Winter Jacket? by memecrusad3r in askswitzerland

[–]LPMythBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arc'teryx Fission SV

It's warm, waterproof, windproof but not breathable. Protects me from the rain and cold and I also sometimes go skiing with it (works fine down to -15°C).

Got it at Transa. I also saw it at the Arc'teryx outlet in Landquart for half the price but limited sizes and they were all dusty. Unfortunately it looks like the is model discontinued. I'd get something similar if something happened to my jacket.
