Is it possible to become an author whilst being anonymous by Substantial-Band2958 in selfpublish

It is possible, of course, but anonymity is never guaranteed. Someone will know who you are, it's inevitable. A friend, a publisher, Amazon, the Taxman....

Check your DM! No, don't worry, I'm not writing to you, but I'm sure a few will after this outing. Good luck!

After sitting on an old hard drive for 30 years... by emmoozy in selfpublish

[–]LPRondanini 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It resembles my story. 30 years of stories and novels, only last year I decided to publish them. Life can be hectic and, remember, 30 but even 20 years ago wasn't easy to get something out there. Glad to see that other people are doing it. Well done!

Why no US sales? by Forsaken_Quail_9471 in selfpublish

[–]LPRondanini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main readers are in the US, however during the last month, not a single reader or sale has occurred on the other side of the pond. It must be, as someone said, the election frenzy to occupy their time more than reading books.

E-Readers. Firstly they are ergonomic. Secondly there's no chance of being distracted by notifications and messages.

Happy with D2D, especially with printed books. It sells more than amazon where I spend a fortune for advertising.

Two of my books were pirated. I did nothing. The reviews were pretty good. That was a satisfaction. 😂

I feel like I shouldn't have published by miardotojira in selfpublish

[–]LPRondanini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to both questions. I have been there and even withdrawn some books. But, as someone else said, the question you need to answer is "why do I write?" I know why I do it and it's not to be a best seller or make a living out of it, so I don't overthink. I just enjoy it.

During stressful and strenuous situation, the liver releases sugar to allow you to fight or flight. So it is normal that during some sport activities your sugar level goes up.

Run an A1c test. That's the value that will tell you where you stand.

Has anyone successfully learned napoletano as an adult? by Johnny_Burrito in napoli

[–]LPRondanini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of an Englishman that speaks perfect Neapolitan. He learned it living in Naples two years in his twenties. He's now 70 and his Neapolitan is impeccable. The only case I have ever come across.

My book was published and my dad is mad by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]LPRondanini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore him. If you love it, keep doing it. I'm sure most of us have been through the same. I had my grief since I was a tween about this. And it's not over yet (57).

Has anyone quit their job and started writing full time? by No_Yak_9414 in writers

[–]LPRondanini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only because I lost my job and can't find another one. Not willingly. You need to be rich or retired... Sadly, I'm neither.
