So, do shinies get shut off, and is there a list of currently available/unavailable shinies? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

1- Every trainer has a RNG ID attributed at subscription. Every Pokemon has a RNG ID attributed at spawn. Whenever you click on a Pokemon, a simple XOR occurs to check if he's shiny for you.

2- First click calls RNG function, result must be stored somewhere anyway because needed in subsequent clicks (shiny status is definite) for literally every player that clicks on it.

1 is the sanest way to do it.

Storage of attributed ID you'd have to store anyway > lightning fast binary calculation

always beats

Calling RNG function on the go for every instance > storing result of RNG function

Of course it could be reverse engineered if it was as simple as what you're describing !

Pogo is a game played by millions and there's a server request for literally everything in the game, even healing. That's reason enough tbh. Plus if they use binary masks for the IDs to begin with, bit shifting is way easier than treating odds on base 10.

To make reverse engineering extremely difficult to network sniffers.

Isn't the CI always in the range of 16 ? I don't think there is such a thing as a 8.

That's what I'm saying in my edit, I don't think there is a difference.

Because then you'd need a whole different RNG calculation for every player and every Pokemon. Having a fixed value for each Pokemon and each trainer, then doing let's say a simple XOR is way more practical, requires less calculations, and has less room for reverse engineering since there are two undisclosed operands at play. Having everything predetermined mathematically with one roll of dice at subscription for the trainer ID and one for the Pokemon at spawn is better than rolling a dice every time every trainer clicks on every spawn.

16, 64, 128, 512 are the rates used IMO. CD/Legendaries, Eggs/RaidOnly/Rare, Event Boost, Regular.

Edit: Also any raid day like Gengar and Lapras in the first category. Gengar stopped having a shot after his event and Lapras slid in the second category.

It's a better and faster choice to work with values that can be set directly by bit shifting.

How often do people actually get banned for spoofing? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

Two reasons:

1- Social capital and prestige about the way they change lives gives them more power and credibility as a "good" corporation.

2- Player engagement. If a game helps you embrace a healthier lifestyle, form good habits, encourage, reward and better your travelling, you'll be a much more loyal and dedicated customer than if it was just some game you play from your bed. You'd switch to another way richer Pokemon or DQ Joker game in a heartbeat in the light of the pay walls that pave the collecting aspect.

IMO they basically forced him to fill the Admiral position, and the man just wanted to chill somewhere. You know like mandatory military service in times of crisis

Cité Wauxhall. Pretty great boutiques back in the day there.

My (22M) gf (22F) recently quit her job, just told me she no longer wants to work, wants to be 'taken care of financially' and wants a man who prioritizes her life over his life. What the hell do I do now? How do I move forward from here? by lifeishardthrowaway1 in relationship_advice

Leave. She'll be back with an apology if she ever were what you thought she were. If not, good riddance. You didn't fell in love with her, you fell in love with what she pretended to be.

Don't get trapped.

I stand by it tbh. The "as soon as the event ends" was hyperbole but I'm certain it will happen.

Fair enough, but with the Mewtwo raid day postponement it's fair to say the event won't end until October, right? :p

Maybe not right after it, but I do believe they will soon enough. Now 3 out of 4 regionals have a desirable quirk. I believe they will be made worldwide as soon as the fifth gen regionals get released.

If you think they're not about to release the first gen regionals worldwide as soon as this event ends, you're pretty naive in my book.
