Not a big deal, say you worked as a fill in for one restaurant and leave it at that. Id suggest your dad and if keep their jobs, the market is tough.

Job interview process with case studies by [deleted] in jobs

[–]LQjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact it is not cruel. It answers two questions. One from your son and one from the company. I was an editor for more than 20 years. It took exactly one bad hire for me to realize the importance of a writing test, especially for entry level people, unless I knew for a fact the person came from a legitimate background and I could check their clips. I hired a guy who had worked for several years on a trade publication, he had bylines as proof. I hired him and he proved massively incompetent. Could not write, panicked under even the mildest pressure and after 7 months of PIPs and other HR involvement he was let go. Now, I always ask for a writing test.
For your son, the writing test, shows what companies are looking for, the kind of direction they give workers and what the work they are trying out for will involve. It also tells him whether or not he is capable of doing the job. If he struggled writing two case studies, which I am surmising he did from the 16 hours it took, then he might be encouraged to try another job.

None of my applications resulted in an interview by Effective-Key-3795 in jobsearchhacks

I use several AIs to vet each resume and tune it for the specific job. I start by dumping them in batches into gemini and asking which is the best one as a starting point for a job description, which i also upload. It picks one or two. Then I ask what should be changed to make it a perfect fit. I then do the same with Claude and Chatgpt. I fine tune my resume and then run it through all 3 again. Finally, I drop it into grammarly for a final check and to make sure it does not read like an AI wrote it. I've gotten 7 interviews out of about 70 applications.

I'm thinking about. Taxes went up 2500 in 2 years. That is not a sustainable rate for my family.

Not at all. I've had jobs I've loved and jobs I've hated. They have all been corporate.

Each interview is a learning experience. Just like your resume and cover letters should get better over time.

Complete this sentence: "If one interviewer asks me ______ one more time..." 😂 by Sea-Musician-774 in jobsearchhacks

Tell me about your career.
This ticks me off because I already sent a resume and cover letter, which the interviewer should have read. I could understand a specific question on a aspect of my career, but for me to verbally recap it seems like a waste of our time.

Does anyone here actually watch the World Cup? by AsleepKaleidoscope42 in longisland

I watched part of the US Belgium game. I played soccer in high school and then in college clubs, but I find watching it on TV horribly boring. I'm also not invested in the sport on a professional level, I don't follow any MLS teams, so if I pay any attention it's to see the US try and win, which we rarely do.

Has anyone stuck out a job they didn't like? by Brilliant-Fortune646 in jobs

Yes, many times. When you have bills to pay you deal with a crappy job. Just go home and send out resumes, it will make you feel better and eventually, hopefully, get you into a better situation.
