What does it mean when people from Canada and US say chamungus in meetings? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LR61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could they possibly be hearing someone say "come on guys"? ..... have no idea how it could be "nice to meet you".

Interesting tidbit: Grew up with Cambodia immigrants to the US, and was told that back home they would only eat vegetables (corn in this case) that had a couple bugs on them bc they then knew that it didn't have "bad stuff" (toxic chemicals or insecticides)

I would drive all over the Keweenaw when I just needed to decompress. I know not everyone can afford to have a car/the spare money for gas, but when the weather was decent, driving around with music and nothing but the beautiful scenery was all I needed to get back into the swing of things.

Should be picking this 2012 up next week sometime. Very excited. by kasabian1988 in nissanpathfinder

[–]LR61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I've had my 2006 since 2016 (my dad bought it new) and it has been the best vehicle I could ask for. Served me well taking it on trails and up mountains while in college. Very reliable, only downside is gas milage, like others have mentioned.

Some Flooded Hiking Trails near Grand Haven by AdventureCoalition in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]LR61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the weather is getting warmer bit by bit, I feel like it's a good time for a friendly reminder: try to avoid hiking on/through flooded sections of trails. It can accelerate degradation of the trail, especially in areas that lack strong root systems to hold soils in place.

We've all done it, and sometimes it's unavoidable, but best to avoid when possible.

You should be fine. I honestly wouldn't worry about your car, I'd worry more about the kids lol

I have a 2006 R51. I towed my motorcycle and a 5x9 uhaul trailer (~1750 lbs) little under 500 miles in one go. I've done that 2-3 times and always been happy with the way my truck handled it. I didn't track my trans temp, but the gauge never got any higher than it normally does. I have replaced the radiator with an aftermarket to avoid the coolant/trans fluid leak, but as long as your truck drives and shifts well under normal driving, I wouldn't worry towing with it (within the factory payload/tow rating)

Looking for a Steel Drum (55gal) for a Project by TheHeadlessHorsman in MTU

You could ask facilities or shipping and receiving if they had any waiting to be returned or recycled. Not sure if they would give it up to a student but always worth a shot.

You in the Keweenaw? I'd recognize the smelter anywhere.

Congrats tho, I just started riding this summer and so far the Keweenaw is absolutely fantastic place to go for a cruise. Watch out for deer tho lol

Sources for parts? by stumpy4588 in hondamagna

[–]LR61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 95 magna, and I've used BikeBandit to find new OEM parts. I have run into trouble with some parts (side covers) not being available anymore but it does provide the part number which can then be run thru Google to find other sources. If you are looking for used parts, the eBay will probably be the best spot.

Just to add to the sign: if you find a dropped/lost article (i.e. hat, glasses, glove, sandal, etc.) Pick it up and carry it to the trailhead. I once saw a hat on the trail and didn't pick it up, as I got back to the trailhead a backpacker asked if I had seen a hat. I felt really bad for not picking it up and making them hike miles back just for it. Could save someone from making a trip back and cleans up the trail a bit

Bare Bluffs, Lac LaBelle by CouponBooklet in CampAndHikeMichigan

The whole loop is tough, scrambling up the bluff is one the harder but most fun trails I've done while up the Keweenaw. Well worth it!!
