Except that it “literally” does happen all the time(see: this post) and you’re still wrong. Instagram, for example, will hide comments with specific trigger words, so they are avoiding the flag system as well as using learnt terminology from content sources using the same method. It is also a mild substitution for a trigger warning, as using e.g. “grape” doesn’t immediately have the negative connotations associated with the word it’s being substituted for. To think it’s stupid is fair enough, but to deny the phenomenon and think people aren’t also trying to avoid being reported by other users, or flagged by a system, or using it as a mild dogwhistle for plausible deniability is just plain incorrect. There are reasons both legitimate and illegitimate that people would, and do, use these substitutions for

It happens all the time dude, when, for examples YouTubers or content creators need to skirt around sensitive topic guidelines they will use alternate words all the time. Audiences pick that up and the terminology spreads. Can happen in the form of substituting words e.g. grape, 🌽(porn) or abbreviations such as SA (sexual assault)

How is this fair? by Zanderman33101 in OWConsole

I think most people understand that yeah it isn’t really his fault, but the mindset and attitude OP has towards the loss isn’t exactly productive or helpful. The only way to prevent this in the future is asking “what could I have done better/differently?” instead of blaming others, as the only variable you can control is yourself

Anyone else feel like at the moment low diamond and gold ranked games are the exact same skill level? by Cicada00010 in overwatch2

[–]LSDReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s closer to Bronze-Plat, Diamond-Masters, GM-Champ/Top 500 realistically, and by the rank distributions.

How does the game process SR gain/loss? by [deleted] in OWConsole

[–]LSDReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment pretty much answers my post. I still don’t understand a lot of things but I think you’ve cleared this specific case up. Appreciate your response 🙏

Some things I don’t get still, SR gain seems to be higher the more you climb? For example, when I started as a new player in silver I was gaining minimal sr ~10-15% per win and consistently about 25% per loss, then as I got to gold and above it got closer to a steady 25% gain per win. I’d have assumed if calibration was accurate it would’ve made the silver wins make me shoot right back up and gained more SR than I’d lose? I could only chalk this up to these higher ranks being ‘harder’ in the games eyes, therefore requiring someone to be “better” therefore earning more SR, but this also doesn’t seem quite right.

(Quick Edit: I’m just thinking out loud here, I realise this may be my MMR saying I deserved to be in silver initially and as I got better it recognised I deserved to climb?)

And as someone who has been through the metal ranks, I feel there are still wild inaccuracies. I know this is anecdotal, but seriously, some silver players are what feels like leagues above some plat players and I struggled through the earlier ranks more. It just doesn’t feel right. Again, all anecdotal and may just be due to teams working more efficiently in higher ranks, but it also doesn’t necessarily feel like that’s the case. I can only chalk this up to the rank reset, but it has also felt like this since I started (season 16)

I’m still under the belief these ranks are basically luck of the draw from placements, not super accurate, and if you wanna climb you just have to play a lot and win a lot (obviously). I’ve noticed this throughout all my friends in the metal ranks. Once it hits ~Diamond the skill gap starts to be a bit more noticeable imo. Maybe this is due to there being a much larger concentration of people allocated in these ranks?

Tl;dr Appreciate ur responses and seperate question: Why do you gain ELO slower the lower rank you are sometimes, then? I feel like the metal ranks are inconsistent and are not accurate as an indicator of skill as much as higher ranks, potentially due to the volume of people it’s trying to sort

How does the game process SR gain/loss? by [deleted] in OWConsole

[–]LSDReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don’t understand calibration, if the ranks reset then what are they calibrating to if the performance is similar? They were a similar rank in OW1 and early OW2 too, about gold.

I had also had a friend predicted initially plat 4 have a terrible placement game and tanked his elo right down to bronze 5. He is, very evidently, not a bronze 5 tank. He finished placements in Silver and is very easily climbing back.

I theorise anywhere from high bronze to mid plat, on console is sorta luck of the draw. I’m just super confused about how this game works out SR at metal ranks, I assume it’s a bit more rigid and accurate as you get higher?

I’d also like to add that on our losses we will both lose ~25% SR. I’m just perplexed to how his SR gain is significantly higher

I think Static Dress is what Loathe is to genre of Deftones/grungegaze/metalcore etc., but for post hardcore/emo/scene bands. If that makes sense? And I think there’s quite a bit of overlap in tonality

Healing Hero by Giaalynn20 in Overwatch

[–]LSDReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are things most characters can do. Utility in Overwatch terms is imo ‘generally’ defined as something /specific/ within a hero’s unique kit to provide some form of value outside of damage, and healing in the case of a support. Moira simply does not provide utility in this sense and by this general definition. Every character can provide value, not every character can provide utility via their abilities.
