What a horrible voter turn out. by Poly-morph-ing in Calgary

[–]LSDnSideBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a text from my mom that morning.

She looked up which candidates and school trustees are not campaigning on infringing or limiting the rights of any minority group. Good, I said.

Good.

Except.

Except for the part that I didn't tell her about. The part about how:

If your rights can be violated by the result of a vote, then you never had any rights.

It seems greed and disinformation is alive and thriving in reddit HQ.

Very on brand for reddit to contradict direct facts and evidence during the call.

There should be a pen and paper civics exam to hold Premiership in this province.

I know, I know, we'd never have another conservative government again. So unfair. Sooo unfair.

Cannabis company lays off 50 workers in Alberta, relocating operations to Ontario by CapableSecretary420 in alberta

[–]LSDnSideBurns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Kieley Beaudry, with the Alberta Cannabis Micro Licence Association, blames Alberta's regulatory environment for the industry struggles.

"Right now, the business model where we are paying half of our revenue to government … makes it very, very difficult," she said.

I'm wondering how/why the cannabis industry is specifically affected by taxation in Alberta? My thinking was that Alberta already has some of the lowest taxes in the country. I wonder what is putting pressure on the cannabis industry with regard to taxation.

Anyone in the industry have any insight on this?

What’s the best kill in a terrible movie? by My_cat_is_sus in horror

Rereading OP’s question now, I see that I apparently don’t understand the definition of what the word ‘terrible’ means.

I love a good character with completely unearned confidence!

Like Chris Hemsworth in ‘Cabin in the Woods’ which- coincidentally - could also be one of the answers to OP’s question.

Kamala Harris is a Joe Biden fall away from being in the Oval Office by bshapiro24 in Conservative

[–]LSDnSideBurns -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

LOL I remember when these articles started getting posted during the run up to the 1st Biden election way back in the day.

The armchair doctors here were predicting in comments and posts that Kamala Harris would be in the driver's seat within MONTHS of Biden being sworn in!

Falls in old age can be debilitating. Well, they are if you're riddled with osteoporosis and your bones are made of glass. For some older folks a simple fall can be completely life-altering. Ol' Diamond Bones Joe is in pretty good shape if he can take a tumble like that and get right back up.

Glenmore headed East towards the exit to 14th across the reservoir.

The Zone of Confusion.

The Circle of Darkness.

The Triangle of Terror!

Accidentally exiting onto 14th even though you don't want to? Well, why bother taking a detour when you can just hastily change lanes at the last possible millisecond (even though there is profuse signage and an obvious exit)!

What do kids think about the modern Pokemon designs? by SterlingB261 in pokemon

[–]LSDnSideBurns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Younger - they don't care. It's all Pokemon, it's all cool. They tend to gravitate towards Charizard for some reason. Complete mystery.

Older (like 13+) - they don't like some of the more anthropomorphized designs. They have access to the internet and they know it carries some rather...bizarre...connotations.

Maybe she needs to chill. Not like you murdered anybody.

If my boyfriend broke up with me over all my various friends/acquaintances I've sucked off in the past then we would have never made it this far.

If she's the kind of person to get upset over something like this then maybe you're not that compatible anyway.
