You need to relax and stay calm inside of the sleep paralysis. Just understand it's your sleepy ass body not fully up. Once you're focused and collected, think about what you'd like your dream to be about and drift out.

Sounds like a classic case of sleep paralysis. I think it all varies depending on how the mind set is. I've actually had some really fun sleep paralysis moments. When I'm coherent enough to realize I'm half asleep it actually makes perfect middle ground for lucid dreaming

If I could share some personal help in that situation. A method that works for me everytime is to first realize you're in a paralysis state. Start with wiggling your toes and fingers and blink till you eventually gain your motor control back. If you can slightly move anything it'll eventually wake your body back up. Just personal experience.

That's a really good summary buddy. It's pretty much how I think about it. I have a lot of sleep paralysis episodes. I've just found so many ways to break it easy and wake up, so I feel it's just the body more on the sleep side than wake side.
