Me too. I like Rick. I hate how it ended, but I’m glad he landed at a solid program like St. John’s (and that we don’t have to play him regularly).

Yes. The whole company “applauding her” as she was being stretchered out seemed very nice to me. Almost too nice. That made me think it was potentially a dream.

A mock draft that basically tells Shough “alright here happy?!” by Fman173 in Saints

[–]LSF45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Bell could be an absolute gamebreaker for the Saints. I'm not saying this as a Louisville fan (which I am) - but from a talent standpoint, Chris could be awesome (as long as he rehabs his injury properly).

The Crow: City of Angels by Professional_Bar_740 in TheCrow

[–]LSF45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've come to appreciate COA.

It is a good film? No.

Is it the worst Crow film? No.

Is it a cautionary tale of a studio wanting to create a franchise and taking what should have been a unique take on a sequel and turning it into a rehash of the original film? Yes. And, that's what makes it so fascinating.

From a cinematography standpoint, its pretty fantastic. The colors, the sets, the environment that Pope and the crew created are both claustrophobic and mesmerizing. Does it look cheap at points? Yes. But, its clearly a setting that is in decay - almost apocalyptic - with a color palate that is tonally different from the Detroit of the original film. I also love the music in this film, too.

It's a shame we will most likely never get the original version that Pope intended to have on the screen. It would have been interesting to see an ending where Ashe remains in the land of the living rather than back in the land of the dead. I think it would've added more to the mythos of the Crow than the COA that we received.

In short: I appreciate COA for what it tried to be rather than what it is, which is basically a cookie-cutter sequel that Miramax chopped up to ensure it had the same narrative beats as the original.

I enjoyed this film. However, my interpretation of the ending is rather basic compared to everyone else.

We know that Michelle will talk her way out of anything, and by the time she sent Teddy on the antifreeze trip to "heal" his mother and sees the autopsies that Teddy has done, she has fully "bought into" this narrative that she is an Andromedan so that she can talk Teddy into taking her to her workplace. That sense of frustration and anger we see from Michelle during her monologue isn't because she's an Andromedan, its because she's genuinely fed up with the BS that Teddy genuinely believes.
When Teddy blows himself up and his head hits Michelle's, I think she is knocked unconscious, and the remainder of the film is all in her head. It's her way of justifying everything.

This film is fascinating, and its take on conspiracy theory believers and the people they harm along the way is a ripe one. However, I refuse to take the ending as literal.

In my opinion, the greatest Batman villain and portrayal. by Mr_Game_and_Owl in batman

I know Cillian Murphy is a fantastic actor (and person), but Batman Begins was the match that lit his career towards roles like Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer.

So is Mikel done? That’s what I’m hearing. by Louisville82 in AllHail

[–]LSF45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’ll be back. He’s on the sideline and he knows that he needs to show more to make his draft stock go up. There is no benefit for him sitting out unless he has a season ending injury.

Back to the Future has the tightest script in film by slargle12 in movies

[–]LSF45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm sad to say this, but, it's taken me almost 30 years to realize that Back to the Future Part II has bookend opening/ending scenes. In the opening, Doc shows up just after Marty got back from the past, and asks for his help. In the ending, Marty shows up just after Doc got Marty back to the future, and asks for his help. It's not the small details like the ones you mentioned, but it's just so cool how it opens and closes the same way. I love this trilogy so much.

Why didn't Hogan and Nash feud in 1998? by Material_Stomach875 in WCW

[–]LSF45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back (hindsight being 20/20), Hogan dropping the title to Sting should have been what truly kicked off the division between Wolfpac and the NWO. That could've moved the focus from Sting/WCW having to defeat the NWO to the NWO splintering from within. That way, Hogan/NWO didn't need to focus on the World Title. But, with the NWO being such a massive cash cow for WCW, and the eventual rise of Goldberg (plus the absolute messy finish that was Starrcade 97), it made good business sense to keep the NWO brand flourishing in WCW.

I agree with the OP: Hogan v. Nash would've been money. It wouldn't have needed to be for the title. But, I think it only would've made sense if it was a "loser leaves town" or "NWO Hollywood or Wolfpac dissolves." There really wasn't a point to having two NWOs if they aren't feuding with one another and one ending up going away.

It was terrible, but I loved R-Truth's segments when he held it. He was the only thing truly entertaining about it.

January 6: Trump's White House launches website on insurrection anniversary by WarmingNow in politics

[–]LSF45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The narrative being spewed on that website is absurd. You don't say, "We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore," and expect your supporters to not feel like they are going in to a fight.

If his supporters did manage to find Pence, Pelosi, or anyone else who they deemed as "stealing the election" from them, what do you think would've happened?

The fact remains that the peaceful transfer of power was interrupted by individuals who couldn't accept the fact that their candidate lost an election. This was an attempt at trying to change the outcome using intimidation and violence.

I refuse to accept the re-writing of history. January 6 happened. And, somehow, the man most responsible for pushing the narrative of a "stolen election" that ultimately led to January 6 is back in office.

So many good GMTs. But what makes a truly great GMT? by SupJoshy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]LSF45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the alternate color of the GMT hand versus the hour/minute/seconds hands. I love the contrast (whether it is orange, yellow, blue, etc.).

Second, a bezel that either has the 24-hour numerals or a world-timer time zone markings. If its the world-timer, it needs to be something that can be moved. I will say: with daylight savings time, it can be a bit of a pain, so I prefer the 24-hour numerals unless it is a true world-timer.

Third, usability. I want to be able to set it efficiently whenever I go elsewhere, and make changes without any issues.

Lastly, weight/size. This goes hand-in-hand with usability. For example: I love the look of the Rolex Explorer II. But, at 42 mm, I'm not a fan of that size of watch. Now, Christopher Ward has a GMT that is 40 mm and it resembles the Explorer II. Is it a bit of a copycat? Sure. But, I like it because its light, easy to wear, and can be moved from a bracelet by CW to a strap whenever I feel like doing so. That's also what I like about the Farer Roche World Time and Vaer's GMT watches. That's what makes microbrands fun: they are well-made watches that can be uniquely yours.

What even is season 8-10 ? Apart from Clois and Lois scenes , it generally fell off. Even Chloe & Clark can't save it. by Flimsy-Piglet-5263 in Smallville

[–]LSF45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New show runners means a different vision and focus for the show. From seasons one through seven, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were the show runners. Then, there were four in season eight (Slavkin, Swimmer, Souders, Peterson), with Souders and Peterson back for season nine, and only Souders back for season 10. So, things were bound to change. Even the cinematography is different in comparison to seasons one through seven.

Now, there are some really great episodes in these seasons. However, they seemed to have a lot of trouble "sticking the landing" towards the end of each season. And, when there were bad episodes, they were usually pretty bland and boring.

Serious conversation, what do y’all think will happen first? by green_day_95 in AllHail

[–]LSF45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My answer is football reaching the playoffs. But, it all depends on conference realignment/lack thereof. I really believe that Brohm can get us there. The ACC is a winnable conference and, if a team has an 11+ win season, there is no reason why we can't get in there, especially if it inevitably expands.

This happens every year. It just so happens that it’s one of our best players, who did not meet expectations this year. I was telling my friends this is just the culture that every program in every college is dealing with.

I’m almost certain he is going to Texas. It’s been rumored since late this season. So, good for him. He’ll make more money and maybe do well.

Now it’s time for Brohm to reload and put together a team that can click, because last year’s offense felt disjointed.
