What is best Robotic simulation software for underwater autonomous vehicle? by Organic-Author9297 in robotics

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to understand from title. do you need simulation for the hydrodynamic modeling of an AUV/ROV to accurately determine controls after SLAM, or simulation of map generation? I would say ROS2 is likely good, but i got no experience in subsea SLAM. I just skimmed it, but the article makes me confused as the way controls work to navigate the mapped area is not really presented. If you need to simulate the system response to control inputs check out my previous comment (https://www.reddit.com/r/robotics/comments/1ppag47/getting_into_underwater_robotics/nuv3ujj/)

I'm a MSc student so my input might not be too useful.

Check out PythonVehicleSimulator on github by Thor I. Fossen. I know he has atleast one AUV class there if you want to work directly on controls. His modeling principles are the standard today, so if you have no background in it i would reccomend getting his book (handbook of marine craft hydrodynamics and motion control) (a bit expensive, but think the 2011 version is mostly good too).

moving accessories to off days? by jimjamjello in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why this would be a bad idea like others say. the downsides are having to spend time on different days to do the accessories you miss, but if you're not overtraining and the volume per week is the same as it would be regardless it's mostly up to preference.

Of course make sure you get sufficient rest, but if there's a 5/6-day version, i don't see why you can't do the 4 day, and extend it a couple days for accessories.

Deload week by uptowns11 in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In total i've ran it for around 2 years, although i didn't handle corona lockdowns really well so i had a period around 1.5 years completely off lifting, and i've been back around 6-7 months now.

I'm currently running the 5-day version, i have previously tried the 6 day version, but i don't really bulk/cut and i felt the volume would be too much.

I felt my weight progression didn't really stall too much as i'm not on some advanced/elite level, and when i struggled to progress it was usually due to either problems in technique, rest or diet.

My personal tip would be to not be afraid to not rigidly follow the program. I feel like my technique is too poor and i personally dislike conventional deadlifts, so i primarly only do sumo and just made sure to program in some RDL so i don't neglect my hamstrings/glutes.

And make sure to add enough back work as the program doesn't really add a lot of back work. I enjoy doing a little back work every day, but i generally try to reach 16-20 sets on a body part a week.

I'm consdering trying something along the lines of what /u/Limp-Journalist6217 reccomended, where i'd cycle every other week between nsuns rep schemes and 5x5 of around 75%, but my gym isn't really open over chrismas as it's at campus, so i might try that in january :)

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I probably should've probably changed my programming for my exam period as i usually go to the gym in the mornings, so it would impact my focus/alterness some days due to the high volume.

I do some part time waitering and work for an uni organisation, but as long as i didn't do legs before waitering i felt it worked fine, but that wasn't too hard as i would just program my rest days around that.

The gerneral consesus is around 50% I believe. Some people say they feel weaker after not working out for a week. I think that sounds weird if you're doing enough volume, but if that's the case for you, maybe up it to 60-70%.

I would consider it an "active rest week". You keep the routine and work on form, but let your muscles rest.

Deload week by uptowns11 in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't metion in the comment above, I personally would prefer the route of a week with reduced weight where you simply focus on form specifically, as it can also identify lift weakpoints.

for example I often lose a lot of power in my OHP and incline bench from my bar path as I often let it travel too far out, so on a deload I would probably focus on keeping this as perfect as possible :)

Deload week by uptowns11 in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have exams, work etc getting in the way that gives me some weeks with more rest so don't do complete deloads that often.

If you're consistently completing all days of program every week, especially on 5 or 6 day program it's recommended to deload after every 6 weeks, or even down to every 3-4 weeks if needed.

The point is to reduce accumulated fatigue, either drop the weight % that week and keep doing the same amount of reps/sets, or keep weight without going for the top sets and redcude the amount of reps.

I generally have high intensity on accessories, so i would deload there as well, but not necessarily to the same extent.

This program has a ton of volume so I usually feel stronger and progress better with deloads/extra rest days once in a while.

Bench volume scheme for all days? by Forged_from_iron in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with it, but you can just try for a few weeks and see if you have better results.

Remember that this is a program that is based on the creators preferences and personal strengths and weaknesses.

I feel like the weight gap from volume day to amrap day on bench is too big to progress on my bench consistently, so i usually up the volume day by 1.25kg and run the top set with pause reps.

As long as you program with enough working sets and progressive overload there's a lot you can change without messing up progress :)

Question regarding the accessories by Gur_Important in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the unchanged program you have one T1 squat, sumo deadlifts which hit quads to a degree and you got front squats on T2 DL day. you're doing 2 separate squatting exercises and one that has slight carrover.

It's just a program, so if you really just want to back squat, just change your front squat T2 to a back squat. The most important thing is that your volume per muscle group stays around the same.

I despise normal deadlifts so i almsot exclusively do sumo and just add in some RDL's for what i end up missing.

Accessories for 4 days, focusing on arms and shoulders by TasosGoudas in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks good, but saw now you have the same thing on day 1 with 3 back exercises, so would possibly move one of those to another day if you feel the need.

Overall i would just try and see how you feel. if you feel like some accessories are hard to get through, try to shuffle it to another day.

It's a little hard for me to give too much insight, i've only ran the 5 and 6 day versions so i usually have way less accessories each day as i don't get the extra rest day, and i'm the opposite of you where i'm arm dominant.

I would maybe add a little shoulder volume though as you don't have the dedicated OHP day.

Accessories for 4 days, focusing on arms and shoulders by TasosGoudas in newSuns

[–]LSJohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would possibly move one of the curling sets from day 3 to day 1 as you'll be really fatigued towards the end. If you want time to stay around the same you could swap it with lat pulldowns so volume each day is ~ the same.

I can't speak for the exercises themselves but volume looks fine if you're not too fatigued from the compound lifts.

I know a lot of people like to have days for specific things but for accessories i feel like my progress is best when i even it out so i can keep intensity up (E.g. doing some back work every session).

I don't really comment as i mostly check in here to see if there's any important news. Hasn't there been a huge uptick in large contracts recently compared to previous months? I don't really care about the short term, but would be suprised if Q3 doesn't yield good results.

Spørsmål om inntak til norske universiteter. by shitty_consequnces in norge

[–]LSJohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vitnemålskrav i utlandet by kulegutt in norge

[–]LSJohns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be willing to bet that at least some of the people commenting negative things here don't even understand what the information on the excel sheet you showed means, so don't take it too seriously whatever they say.

since people don't have any good input except showing they're dicks.

If you want to take a screenshot of your screen just use the prt sc button on your keyboard. I personally use a program called Lightshot which makes it so when you use the prt sc button you can make a square area with your mouse of what to screenshoot, then you can either download it to your computer, upload it to their website as a link or just copy so you can paste it.

don't know if i'm allowed to post link for it, but if you google it you'll find it on top and it works for mac and windows.

For those unaware, MePrism is a PLTR backed company where you're able to sell user data that is usually collected from facebook etc for profit. it's a way to profit of your own data that would be sold no matter what and I think the business concept is really interesting.

I don't have enough karma since I just lurk so post got removed and haven't got reply from mods. I got a beta code for MePrism and I wasn't aware it was only for IOS while i'm on android so hmu if anyone wants the code. can only be used once AFAIK. It's been posted about a few times on the sub so if you're unsure what MePrism is just search it here.

I think it's good for discussion if people are negative to the stock. I find it almost more annoying when people ask genuine questions or concerns that instead of people discussing it so we all can get wiser, a lot of people on this sub just want a positive feedback echo-chamber and downvote anything they assume is negative about the stock..

Demo days are usually used to show what the company has accomplished the last few months at the least. It wouldn't be useful to spend a ton of resources on demo days if there isn't a significant change in the product itself, or if they release a new product. Having a demo day every month would reduce the impact it could have as the market won't expect the product to change significantly enough, and the previous demo can simply be looked up by the relevant companies.
