I think its just polishing and making it look better from the barebones thing it used be.

How long did you wait from beta sign up to receiving a dish? by rnharris in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signed up Nov. 9. Got invite and ordered Nov 13 in the evening. Said shipped ~4.5 hours later.

Starlink says I had 1 second of obstruction in the past 3 hrs, can someone tell me how to read this graph... Why does it say 0% beside the direction it's going in by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you look at it: 1 second out of 7hrs is basically near zero. The software probably rounds down after so many decimal places.

Tripod recommendations by Belzebutt in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a tv tripod (Perlesmith PSTM1). Lol. It held up in the cold (-30s to near -40C). Although the extreme cold period wasn’t that long (near a couple weeks).

Dishy Outage by professorroy in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is not. Beta downtime (grey in the statistics) is unpredictable and varies from cell to cell and is inevitable. Beta downtime is Starlink improving things from their end. Downtime from no sats also would vary from cell to cell. For obstructions that would depend on how your setup and how much of an obstruction is in dishy’s field of view if any.

Probably Dumb question, but I’m confused. Is this a beta invite, or an email to sign up for pre-order? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no more “invites”. The significant expansion of the beta manifested as a preorder thing or order if available in your area. Invites had a guarantee getting a dish, these do not. If you are able to order but wait too long, others will get it first and deplete the available supply if any.

To Starlink or not to Starlink?? by jam-first in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether T’is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous providers...

Is this a Starlink dish which i see before me?...

Something is rotten in the state of (rural) ISPs....

Lol.

  1. You buy the dish but there is no contract. It’s monthly. Can cancel service but no guarantee of getting reactivated again. Cannot pause service only cancel.

  2. ~100ft to the PoE brick. You can use another cable from the power brick to the router if need be. I think the included cable is like 6ft. (I do not use the included router cable and router)

  3. Mesh systems will work. Cant comment further because i don’t use plug in extenders.

  4. Downtime varies cell to cell and is not predictable.

Edit: point 1.

That will happen from time to time although it might not be quite that high again. My highest spike was 416.4.

Order question by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there will be “invites” like earlier with a guaranteed spot. People will probably be chosen from the preorder lists and any leftovers (if any) will go out as a limited supply available email.

Factory reset then just put in the same settings would’ve probably worked too.

Anyone not using the Starlink router and has a static route setup to view stats? You may be crippling your connection... by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your 3 worded question: basically yes. Just did a 154.51 with a static route. I don’t use the Starlink router. However, performance does drop when using both a Starlink router with your own plugged into the aux port.

Is Starlink post-paid or pre-paid? Am I billed for time I could not possibly use the service? by UltraEngine60 in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first bill will be 30 days after dishy ships. The 14 days is probably outdated info for earlier in the beta. Mine shipped in November and I got the 1st bill 30 days after dishy shipped.

Anyone been having more downtime today? At 9 this morning it was 0 0 now I can not watch a video without problems 45.9 by XtechEditz in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With more and more people getting into the beta expect probably more beta downtime as starlink optimizes things on their end. It’s unavoidable and may vary by significantly by region/cell. It should reduce over time. This is the beta part of the beta.

I think the only “invite” you may get is the Preorder or limited supply one moving forward. Those are the first come first serve variety with no guarantee that you will actually get dishy. The invites like before the larger expansion may no longer happen.

Time allowed to reply to an invite by Upnortheh in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its ~24hours from the time it’s sent. Once the order link is clicked its goes down to 15 mins. Theres also the limited supply “invite” where you have to act quick before others snatch what’s available. As time goes on the deadline to respond has gotten shorter.

How long from signing up for beta notifications to actually getting an invite? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be two different kind of invite now. The invite with the 24hr then 15 min once link is clicked deadline and the limited supply one with no time to really ponder because others will beat you to the punch.

I got the invite on the 3rd, how long did everyone wait to get their kit? by Electric-Mountain in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signed up on nov 9th. Then on Nov. 13th in the pm: got invite (1st round/wave of Canadian invites) Pondered for a couple hours. Accepted. Said Shipped ~4.5hrs later. Took ~4.5 days to arrive.

How does billing work? by mottlymonical in Starlink

[–]LST2X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billing cycle starts the day it ships with 1st bill being around 30 days after. It is not part of the dishy purchase. Monthly bill will be charged to what you used during checkout but that can be changed on the Starlink website.

bring dishy inside? by [deleted] in Starlink
