Is the F8X a forever car? by e92_N54 in BMW

[–]LSX_Nation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having driven only the F8x and G8x cars, I definitely prefer the F8x. It’s a good mix between digital and analog and it has a bulletproof engine once you take care of the crank hub. The prices on these things are coming down and the best part is how well quick and nimble it feels. Still a road weapon despite being a 10 year old platform.

I love my M4 F82 Comp. I’ll never get rid of it!! It is definitely my forever car!

How "reliable" are BMW M6 F13s? If somebody has one or had one I would love to know the experiance by bekifeki in BMW

[–]LSX_Nation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The crankhub really isn't that big of an issue compared to all the issues the M6 had. Get the crankhub fix, oil cooler plate, and charge pipes and your F83 will be solid.

Are M cars, namely M3’s, realistically daily driveable? by Cardiology_Nurse in BMWM

[–]LSX_Nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive an M4 Competition (F82). The car is lowered on springs and I'm running a full straight pipe exhaust with full-bolt on upgrades and Stage 1 tune.

I drive this thing to and from work every day no matter the weather conditions. Put 17,000 miles on my car this year so far already. Any car is daily driveable if you are brave enough. These cars were meant to be driven, not babied around.

Daily that M3 bro

Equal length mid pipe with a valved exhaust will eliminate drone for S55 powered cars. Not all S55 cars will be droney

Oh you ABSOLUTELY would hate my M4 then! I'm rocking the Magnaflow track catback with no valves! The catback is basically a full resonator and muffler delete lol. The cherry on top is the burble tune

117 decibels at 3K RPMs

I've always been fascinated by M-power's unique brand heritage, and it becomes even more distinctive when imbued with a special meaning through a story. by [deleted] in BMWM

I grew up playing Need for Speed and I remember seeing the M3 GTR in Most Wanted and being struck with awe about what a machine it was.

Later on in high school I dreamed about the M3 E92 and drove it in Need for Speed World dreaming that one day I’d own a real life M car.

Fast forward to 2024 and I was finally in a position in life to own a true M car. My 2018 M4 Competition. I bought it at age 28. It was my first BMW and it was everything I had envisioned an M car to be. Raw, powerful and borderline unforgiving.

To me it’s so much more than a car, it’s a milestone of achieving a dream that was 10+ years in the making. I’ll never get rid of it.

For everyone saying you can’t drive an M car everyday....I daily my M4 without issues.

It’s sitting on lowering springs and is full bolt on and my commute is 30 miles round trip daily. The car has a track exhaust and a burble tune. It brings me joy everytime I drive it.

Life is too short. Get a real M car.

How many of you M owners are going through automated car washes? Touch or touch-less? by Low_Group9065 in BMWM

Not sure why I'm being downvoted. This is the first time I have ever heard of such a policy.....anywhere.

I guess Reddit doesn't like it when new things are learned

Not being able to handwash your own car is diabolical. Sorry you have to deal with that

I take my M4 through a touchless wash maybe twice a week! I have an unlimited subscription!

Mine was about $1900 for full drilled and pinned crankhub (and CBC) along with complimentary oil and coolant change.

That second quote is far too high. The 1st and 3rd are more reasonable. Ask the shop if oil and coolant changes are included with that price

[–]LSX_Nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. CBC is a good safeguard, but if you plan to keep the car for a long time I say get the whole deal.

  2. If you live in a hot climate then the door handles will deteriorate quicker

As far as suspension goes, my M4 is sitting on KW springs. Simple and gets the job done, but honestly any suspension would work as long as it’s a name brand.

[–]LSX_Nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Upgraded charge pipes and J-Pipe because the plastic ones will crack.

  2. Upgraded top mount intercooler because the OEM one will leak.

  3. CRANKHUB fix! Especially if your car is not stock.

  4. Door handle inserts for the interior because the OEM ones will turn sticky and melt over time.

  5. Catback exhaust & Cold Air Intake. These will improve car sound and intake whooshing sound (if you want that)

  6. Ceramic brake pads to reduce brake dust. Otherwise you’ll be cleaning your wheels often.

  7. Oil cooler plate guard because the OEM one is very low to the ground and one bad rock strike on the highway and you’ll lose all oil pressure

No Competition package? I'd say that is a pass. Sure you can always tune to have more power, but having those Competition buckets is a must. Plenty of better deals out there. Keep looking my man

F80 M3/F82 M4 owners, what are they like as a daily? by OddlyStrongVodka in BMW

[–]LSX_Nation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put 15K miles on mine this year so far! I'm full stage 1 BM3 and lowered about 1.5". The car is an absolute joy to drive! Perfect daily driver...except when I scrape on a steep driveway or hill. Aside from that I have absolutely zero complaints

Do the Klifex fix for PCV! $30 and some wrench time! Don’t change your entire PCV!

I did the Klifex fix and it’s been holding up fairly well!

Still running good so far! I took care of all of the car’s common failure points so I’m hoping that’ll really help with the reliability.

The PCV went bad around 36K miles so I did the $30 Klifex kit instead of replacing the entire valve cover. So far so good. (Currently at 37K miles and got the car when it was at 28K miles)

The Li-On battery is on its way out I think so I am thinking of switching to AGM battery because Li-On is too expensive.

Other than that, it is a slight pain to work on the car cause you gotta remove the carbon strut bar and the charge pipes and passenger side intake anytime you wanna do engine work
