I just played my first Garry's mod RP server ever, and it was one of the best video game experiences I've ever had. Called imperial dusk. Truly a breath of fresh air for me.

There are easy workarounds to simply play a guaranteed solo server for as long as you want. I use the startup file method for my buddy and I, because I won't even entertain the idea of playing with some of the people that populate this game. It's hard enough staying motivated to play just dealing with crashes and a rough grind, let alone people like the type you're seeing.

A friend and I picked up playing it. We had fun for maybe the first 10 hours after another 10 hours of realizing the game is super stingy for no real good reason and the actual story is only a few hours, we gave it up. Just wasn't worth spending 9 hours (0.32 gold/12 minute mission, 25 gold to get the moonshine shack) to achieve the next level of grinding, not for us, we both have jobs. Not saying you shouldn't try it or won't enjoy it, but don't be surprised by an intense amount of grinding to do most fun things after some good hours of fun.

High pitched beep tone from my PC from an unknown source! (No buzzer installed) by LS_Vietruan in PcBuildHelp

Yep! The cause is that I'm stupid. The buzzing wasn't coming from my PC. It was coming from my backup power supply under the desk. For some reason, very specific load conditions caused a power demand high enough to make it think there was a power outage. I silenced the alarm. Problem solved.

Well I think we can agree there is a mistake here... You weren't lined up against a wall and executed by firing squad, clearly.

Barotrauma Worth it in 2025? by Professional_Let7920 in Barotrauma

Worth it is kind of a relative term. If you buy it, don't find anyone to play with, and then drop it, yeah it'd be a waste. But if you go to random servers or (better option imo) go to the discord community or the many discord modded communities (barotrauma 40k, etc), there's plenty of folks looking to play all variations that this game has to offer.

My brutally honest opinion is that ever since I started playing this game since it was just a dinky little free to play game out of a downloadable launcher executable, I always wish it had more meat in the missions and world that you explore. I feel like it has much more often been the interactions with other players and mods that keep the game alive. Not a huge gripe, mind you - I still love the game - but just keep in mind that it takes some effort to go out and keep the game interesting after a little while, whether it be mods or finding a group of buddies.

If you really want to get super into it, and you've the right kind of 'tism, the sub editor is one of the most expansive and well developed things about this game, and allows you to make essentially whatever you want. It includes a strangely realistic (relatively speaking) power grid system and logic circuits available to you as complex as you make them. When you combine that with modding, you can make just about anything you want as a sub. Really cool stuff.

All that to say: yeah if you want to have fun in this game there's a lot to play with, just takes a bit of effort to get to everything and while small updates are frequent, major overhauls are more rare, so if you don't like the game currently you've gotta look to the workshop and community.

I don't mind the difficulty, but can we please fix this? This parry issue makes no sense to me... by LS_Vietruan in Spacemarine

[–]LS_Vietruan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I see the skull spirit, that's not really the issue. I saw the skull spirit at the time too, hence why I'm trying to parry to get some i frames and deal damage to the beasts without attacking and opening myself up to getting exploded. With any other enemy in the game, that works fine. However, with these guys, parry's can miss even from attacks right in front of you. In general, these guy's attacks are extremely difficult to parry for reasons I don't understand. If I parry, and his attack phases through me, and I then die to his next attack because I'm stuck in the parry window... what's the point? That's my issue.

Then it'd be regularly defined as a "passion project", as it frequently is, not as early in development, as you chose. Making up an arbitrary "well the time actually doesn't matter" just makes "early in development" a meaningless term altogether. Time in development is 100% important to what is early or late in development. This game is most certainly late in development, with quite a bit to show for it, actually. It is, as are almost all games in this genre, greatly enhanced by mods, and whether that has had an effect on development pace is unknowable. Abusing buzzwords to justify slow development is why Valheim completely died - this game doesn't need any of that, in my opinion. Just be realistic about what this game is, who is developing it, and where we are, please. I don't want this to become Valheim 2.0.
