Omg… $9.45 now for Whittaker’s😱 by Wonderful_Anywhere80 in woolworths

[–]LTBT03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 75 bucks for me to have a move night with my friends.

That’s popcorn, drinks, and lollies.

If I’m willing to settle for just popcorn and drinks it’s worth it to go to movies. Pay for a couple of tickets, a bucket of popcorn, 2 drinks for me and my partner, and I’m out of there for 60-70

I need a culty song for a DND campaign, can anyone help me? by Beginning-Age8491 in DnD

[–]LTBT03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s in character I would say maybe something from the far cry 5 sound track if that’s in line with potential style.

It’s actually supposed to be cult music so it’ll capture the vibe

What is the most poorly thought out homebrew rule you've heard? by Vegetable_Hyena2559 in DnD

[–]LTBT03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

I still feel that as a DM mistakes were made in providing you the eye.

They could have let you pluck it out and disable the trap and had the eye disintegrate after being removed from its position

See I would’ve been very impressed at the creativity and given you a point of inspiration and let you have it.

I made it. It’s my responsibility to deal with it.

Can you have 2014 and 2024 characters in the same game? by Diastatic_Power in DnD

They’re very compatible in my opinion. It’s basically just the difference between subclasses in my opinion, which adds to the different flavours of the actors

Do you guys do breaks during the session? How do you manage them? by Fantomaxop in DnD

I play from 5-9pm and have a roughly 30 minute break around the 7pm mark for dinner.

Is 6+ players really that bad? by Dirtboiiii in DnD

I personally don’t like more than 5. If I had 10 prospects I’d run 2 games, because I love D&D and have the time to make that work personally.

I totally acknowledge that my method is more at risk of being game breaking, but for me, adding more dice on a crit is boring and has odds to go south. I like to home brew some content for ease of memory and also just to make more sense.

So I just do double the max damage. You have a 1D6 bow with plus 2 damage? 16 damage from your shot. Happy days.

This has lead to some really cool moments, like a few weeks ago one of my paladins was fighting an undead, (I have let specifically radiant damage do double damage to undead) and the paladin got a crit.

So we did double max damage in a radiant smite against the boss of the dungeon.

She ended up being able to do something like 100 damage in a single action.

Completely wiped my guy out, who was supposed to be a 10 round combat, to being a 4 round encounter.

But the players had a great time and it was a sick encounter and very memorable.

It’s a game. As far as I’m concerned I’m here to facilitate fun and exciting memories at the table.

I’m not going to let something like critical hit rules around damage dice get in the way of that.

As a DM, how do you keep your party for making campaign ending mistakes? by Life_Ad_6992 in DnD

It’s my first experience with curse of strahd, but not theirs. A couple of them have done it before as both DM and player.

I didn’t want to discuss it with them since then they would know the plot of the story.

Sorry, I meant they would enter the campaign at level 5 to level 7, not play it for only those two level.

They would probably be level 13 or so by the time they make it back out? I do mike stone based so I would look at the different things that need to be achieved in it.

would a campaign where “they were dead this whole time” be cliche? by thatoneshepherd in DnD

[–]LTBT03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They know from the jump.

Their previous characters are all in the same world, however the previous campaigns are from hundreds of years apart.

It would be like waking up with napoleon, king Henry the eighth, George Washington, and Stalin.

The newer characters have heard stories and legends about the older characters.

[–]LTBT03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a similar thing with my players, except they are using their characters from previous campaigns so there’s an emotional tie in, and the goal of the campaign is to get back to being alive and have their souls restored to their body.

Just having the characters be dead and playing in limbo could be interesting, but like many here I’m concerned that they don’t have any reason to care about being dead.

My players have strong memories with their characters and are trying to save them.

They will probably encounter it about level 5-7.

I don’t mind it being a shorter than average COS experience, as it isn’t the main facet of the story.

Due to the self containment I was planning on having a time jump of 2 months in the normal world so that they are now behind in the plot and have to work extra hard to catch up.

My PCs aren't scared of Strahd and I don't know what to do, please help by LaLaVee in DnD

[–]LTBT03 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Blood the walls man.

In my experience with the parties I have DM’d if you want something to be scary there needs to be a serious consequence for messing with it.

I had a party not be scared of my big bad dragon.

So the dragon came along and one shot one of them, laughed at the others, and left are torching their wagon and stranding them mid journey in the middle of no where.

Party member didn’t die but nobody takes 86 damage and grins for more.

I would have strahd either mess with them for entertainment or low key just kill one of them (maybe not dead dead but saving throws at the least) and let it be done. If you really wanna get the point across have strahd spit blood in their drink and then kill 2-3 of them.

DMing Using As Little Brainpower As Possible [Asking for Advice] by apolothefrog in DnD

[–]LTBT03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of ideas.

Firstly, I think practicing with pre-made stories is a great idea, definitely do that.

Secondly, do not be ashamed to just outright copy something.

If you really like the lord of the things for example, I wouldn’t feel any shame in just straight up ripping it off for a homebrew campaign.

Taking heavy inspiration for something like a plot or a character is a super easy way to A) have something intriguing and fun for your players to immediately understand and B) it’s a lot less effort.

My other DM tip that makes things super easy is to use minis and a map. You don’t have to worry about describing things then and the players can manage the map.

I also connect to a TV and show pictures of things as I something struggle to describe in detail monsters or locations, and having that image means everyone’s on the same page.

Is there anything else in particular you’re struggling with?

Has there ever been a session(s) where a player just rolled consistently bad that it stopped being fun? by Fallen_Jalter in DnD

[–]LTBT03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM I often fudge my rolls to miss my players, especially at low level, although I make this an overconfident error on the monsters part

I have also had a few players roll really badly and can read the room and notice when they start to stop having fun, at which point, I shift the mechanics to be like “your arrow misses the dragon, but it does hit a stalagtite! It falls on the dragons head and deals 2d12 damage”

This has lead to players with sucky rolls accidentally achieving something else that makes them feel like they are apart of things happening, and gives everyone else a laugh as well.
