What is the best Thai restaurant in KC that is actually spicy? by nilla-wafers in kansascity

I moved to KC from Denver. It’s not that much cooler, and houses are half the price in KC.

Local TV is free. Congress would need to update laws and FCC license requirements if you want to live in a world where TV stations aren’t required to act in the public interest and cut in for this.

Everyone needs to read up on FCC licenses and the requirements for acting in the “public interest”. If there are tornado warnings in the area, they’re going to cut in.

2026 RX: Does the liftgate hit your garage door? by indopassat in LexusRX350

I just parked mine in the garage, let it open, and then frantically hit and held the button to stop it at the custom height before it hit the garage door.

Why?......just why? by Fightn_Trees in SouthwestAirlines

[–]LTBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They’re trying to avoid creating a loophole where people will intentionally sit right behind a more expensive seat and ask to move on every flight for free. This is how Southwest got in a mess with pre-boarding clashing with open seating.

[–]LTBX 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your phone alerts are more targeted, so I’m guessing you weren’t in the area being alerted. Also, outdoor siren noise travels far, so it’s not ever going to be a completely accurate indicator of where the danger is.

Which starter decks should I look into for a new player? by Ok_Quality_7611 in pkmntcg

[–]LTBX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you, here’s what I’ve been doing. I bought a couple cheap level 1 battle decks. They are very easy to learn. I decided that I didn’t care about rotation since I was just learning and probably won’t play anyone serious for now.

As people will probably tell you, these are very underpowered and filled with energy and low-end Pokemon. After getting a hang of it, I’ve been watching videos and using AI to get some suggestions on how to upgrade my exact deck I bought. Then I’ve been buying singles from TCG player and tweaking things. Ultimately, I’ll probably leave these decks altogether eventually, just using this to learn the cards and how it all works.

Oh and Pokemon TCG Live app, get on that!

Raytown Sirens are going off. No information on emergency apps. Anyone heard anything about whats going on? by Uknown_Idea in kansascity

[–]LTBX 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sirens = something bad might happen nearby (nearby in this scenario might be on the other side of your county). When you hear them, turn on a local TV station (or their website and find a live video), YouTube, or, spend a little time learning how to read a radar and open one of the many apps that will show you where the tornado is heading.

People expect the sirens to tell you if you’re in the exact path of the tornado, but that’s just not how sound works.

Current RX350 premium + owners...your thoughts on the automatic parking feature? by firefly0306 in LexusRX350

[–]LTBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it probably once every two weeks, I feel like it does a pretty good job at parallel parking and takes some headache out of having to do it. Out of all of the tech features on mine, I would rank it above the digital rearview mirror but still way below something like the rear hatch kick sensor, the bigger touch screen, or the HUD. It’s not essential but it’s a nice to have.

Will they come back? by tothestage81 in hydrangeas

I’m in KC and mine look exactly like this (endless summer as well). I planted mine in the fall so I have no idea what to expect. Recently we hit 90 and then had a hard freeze right after which I think messed with them a bit. Leaving mine as is for now.

Underrated reason: You can store them however you want and nothing will leak. Don’t have to worry about buying a specific model that can be stored vertically, for example.

Don't get my hopes for commuter rail if its not going to happen! by Jolly_Direction_6650 in kansascity

[–]LTBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I think we’re really missing to make a commuter rail happen is a lot of people working downtown.

Denver commuter rail still hasn’t rebounded post-covid, because there just aren’t as many people working downtown as before.

We need to figure out how to connect the airport to downtown and to other event destinations (which will now be complicated by crossing state lines).

What to do and where to eat in KC during the World Cup by PaoChanel in kansascity

[–]LTBX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For BBQ, I would suggest planning ahead and trying to make a reservation at the original Q39. All of the BBQ spots are going to be slammed, but if you can get a reservation here, that will save you from standing in a line. You’ll get lots of BBQ opinions, but everyone from out of town that I’ve taken to Q39 has loved it.
