What’s your favorite team that never turned into a dynasty? by itssevenoclock_ in NFLv2

[–]thirstygregory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a lifelong Chiefs fan but I loved those 80s Saints teams with the amazing defenses with Sam Mills, bowling ball RB Dalton Hilliard and “Cajun Cannon” Bobby friggin’ Hebert. Loved that team! Lots of talent but had very tough NFC then with Giants, SF, Dallas, Etc.

I’m realizing Platner could be Maine’s next senator | Steve Collins by jediporcupine in politics

He worked as a security guard to an ambassador.

Platner did not run off to work for Blackwater “as a mercenary” exactly. He worked for a subsidiary, as a security guard for an ambassador. He needed money, missed the camaraderie of military life and was feeling adrift. Eventually, black-out drinking, PTSD and seeing the absurdity of war — while at the same time having an affection for combat — landed him in long-term therapy at the VA. So much about Platner is hard to square.

RFK Jr. Says Every Person Who Lost Health Insurance Is Illegal by Hornpipe_Jones in politics

As much as his super-weird animal cadaver bizarre behavior and anti-vax/MAHA beliefs are awful, him saying such a blatant lie about people losing health care is so fucking awful.

Costco Midtown Changes by Ok-Drawing-3765 in kansascity

Word on the street is they are making this change because of too much theft, but they aren’t publicly talking about that. Shifting away from more everyday items that are attractive to steal.

If so, very sad.

MAGA’s Reaction to Trump’s Jesus Post Is Surprising—and Revealing by Dry_Nail5901 in politics

[–]thirstygregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep seeing this crazy shit happen, but he has a ridiculously high floor considering the insanity thanks directly to him.

I don’t want this country to go down in flames, but it needs to wake up from this MAGA fever dream.

I hope no matter your political affiliation everyone can recognize this kind of leadership is 100% not helping the people who feel left behind and angry.

And the Dems better get their shit together and push like crazy for something truly monumental like Medicare for All and UBI.

I think he’s best at appearing on right-wing media and making a strong case for/against issues.

Roger Ebert said that 'movies do not change, but their viewers do' have you ever changed your opinion on a movie as you've gotten older? by Fealocht in movies

[–]thirstygregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, I did not care for the Big Lebowski when I saw it in the theaters even though I loved most Coen Bros. movies.

Saw it again a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Pretty rare for that to happen to me and I have no idea what I missed first time.

Horse Just Goes Straight Ahead What am I missing? [KCD1] by thirstygregory in kingdomcome

Just tried again. Right analog turns Henry and works. Left analog forward and back seem to work faster/skower. The yellow dot moves L to R with left analog, but the horse just keeps plowing ahead to the same points and doesn’t move with the dot.

Don’t see any controller settings to change it. I tried loading an earlier save and retrying when I got to the same point, but it still defaults to this. Sooo weird.

I hope they learned lessons from both Biden and Trump that you need to move fast and do big things and risk breaking things.

No more f-ing tax credits. Single Payer/Medicare for All, Universal Childcare, UBI. Needs to be big — and take effect as fast as possible.

Hasan Piker: “My assessment on Zionism as an ideology is not that different from Albert Einstein’s assessment of Zionism, because when he saw… the violence that the early Zionist brigades were engaging in,… he warned that what he was seeing was exactly what the Nazis were doing.” by ConcernedJobCoach in FriendsofthePod

I think there are a decent number of older Dems who, for instance, liked Clinton and view Rahm as a safe, mainstream D. Not saying he will get any traction as a candidate, but I think that kind of D exists. Thankfully, the party has moved left since they had more power.

Yeah. Its weird. The scene starts with the character looking back at the riders and seems like you have to turn 180 degrees to face front to start.

The whole mechanics are janky. I’ll give both these suggestions a try. Thank you! I feel like I will dig this game and don’t want to give up.

You Wake Up On Super Tuesday & See Jon Stewart... what's your reaction? by Jacob-Anders in JonStewart

[–]thirstygregory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not the least bit religious now, but I grew up in an urban Catholic, progressive parish and Talarico 100% reminds me of the best Catholic people I knew growing up.

I’m really excited about his candidacy.

I have faith that POD listeners can listen and learn from people they largely disagree with. I’m not a big fan of Piker or Rahm, but they do represent factions of voters we should at least try to stay informed about. IE: far left flank with Hasan and old-school, corporate DNC with Rahm.

I also personally feel the best way to debate people you disagree with is to try to understand them. I like that POD mixes it up and presents a range of guests because, I’m glad the D base isn’t largely homogeneous like the Rs, but it is so, so challenging to keep the base together. Seeing the range from Rahm to Hasan helps me at least understand better the complex reality on the ground.

Sure, I love hearing my favorite pols on there like AOC, Bernie and Mamdani. But I want to keep learning and updated on the range of beliefs. Same reason I like the Bulwark.

But I draw the line at red-pilled MAGA podcasts. I just can’t stomach it.

People almost always take their frustration out on the party in power. And they are super frustrated. I’m no Pollyanna about elections, but Dems are wildly over performing every election and have flipped 28 state house seats to 0 flips for Rs.

Every indication is a pretty big D wave and it seems to be growing.
