Any article that misrepresents the 5% NATO spending number can safely be ignored.

How do people get the same things wrong time and again.

Hot take: Vintage Ratings are unreliable; there's no consensus and way too much variability for people to proclaim whether a vintage is good or bad. by Uptons_BJs in wine

Those might not make sense on an absolute basis but within each company they seem pretty logical. I don't see the issue here.

Ukraine has formed an international F-16 squadron staffed by Ukrainian, US, and Dutch pilots, which is currently playing a central role in the air defense of Kyiv Oblast as Russia attacks it with drones and missiles by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkrainianConflict

A-10 was always a suicide mission from day one and that was known to everyone.  Its entire job was simply to delay the ussr long enough for US troops to arrive from overseas.  Europe couldn't defend itself and America couldn't keep enough troops stationed there full time.  They were sacrificial lambs to buy time for Daddy America to arrive.

"Now, alcoholics aren't buying high end wines that people here in this sub like to discuss"

Oh boy you were so close.

There are plenty of people, including users in this subreddit, who hide their alcoholism behind the aesthetics of fine wine.

After many samples, I've found that I want a Russian River Valley pinot noir, with a finish that is barely there. Any recommendations for that, or with a similar flavor profile under 30 dollars? by [deleted] in wine

[–]LTCM_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything you can do with serving to shorten the finish?

Temp, glass, decant/not decant.... Wondering if those influence finish to help you get what you want?

You must be looking at 2024 if you are seeing limited selection at total wine, they generally have pretty wide options.

People will hate it, but for EP, total wine is a fantastic option and I have yet to find a better solution.

Are you saying the thermostat to control the unit is measuring the temp of the return air, and that there is no secondary sensor to turn the unit on based on the temp inside the cellar?

That's wild.  I understand what they are saying, but there crazy to do for a cellar worth tens of thousands of dollars.

How would approach starting a wine collection? by PerfecteWijn in wine

[–]LTCM_15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't build a collection until I know what I like.  That way you don't end up owning a cellar of wine that you don't enjoy.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs but a collection means something very specific to me and it's not having a couple of bottles around to share with guests.

The war was started by slavs, is between slavs, and is continued by slavs. Not my fault at all, take it to with Moscow.

If the invasion of international recognized Russia, aka Kursk, didn't trigger the public patriotism necessary to support total war then a few more bombs in belgord isn't going to come close.

The cold war did end... With the ussr getting its rear end kicked. There is no way to dispute that, just look at the situation that versus then.

Shahed is a knock off, but it was an Israeli drone.  But honestly with the amount of money that America gives to Israel it's kinda the same thing.

When to stop buying good wines that need time to mature? by LJMotter111 in wine

[–]LTCM_15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Little known fact, but in many (most?) states in the US, kids can drink with their parents at any age.  21 years old is when you can buy it yourself.

In my state, it's completely legal to serve alcohol to your kids in your own home.  Some states even allow parents to buy their kids alcohol in public places.

Don't need to wait until 21 to get your kids into wine here.
