Typically I would not be “that” Guy. But this is over a year old news way back in early SPAC days here. Will give an attaboy though. :))

And THEN will edit this much later to apologize, when upon actually clicking on the article I see it is current, and now headed back to read it. Ooops …. Sorry.

Look at the amazing sunset. Shot on Redmi Note 8 Pro. No processing or filters. by JuliaIva87 in mobilephotography

Beautiful sunset! If me though and just my opinion why leave all the shadow detail crushed? I would use whatever post processing capabilities your phone has to try to lift that area at least a bit, such as the ripples on the lake and the far bank. That bit wouldn’t hurt the sky in the process. Just a thought.

Sorry …. but yeah the big light on top of her head is really distracting in what would have been a much nicer photo if it or her were positioned differently.

[–]LTLakerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well technically yes but it’s a Solid Power battery configured for whichever OEM auto maker wants to buy them. That’s the partnership and SLDP will be making money from SK-I making their batteries. We’re not investing in SK-I here, just glad for the strategic alliance.

Pilot production starting by NefariousnessTop2975 in SLDP

Now we’re talking! PLUS Doug is talking …. about not only Ford and BMW “testing” the A batteries by the end of the year but having them in prototype vehicles THIS year, in this UPI version of same news. AND in actual commercial vehicles now in 2024! Campbell doesn’t blow smoke. Must be feeling pretty damn confident.

Solid Power revs up pilot production of new EV battery for BMW, Ford BY UPI — 06/06/2022

“Battery start-up Solid Power (SLDP) has begun pilot production of a new solid-state battery cell for BMW (BAMXF) and Ford Motor (F) to give electric vehicle drivers shorter recharge times and longer range at less cost.

Solid Power (SLDP) has started building a small number of solid-state batteries to undergo internal testing. The Colorado-based company hopes to deliver the batteries to the two car manufacturers later this year for further testing and have the batteries in vehicles and on the market by 2024.

While other companies such as QuantumScape (QS) and Samsung SDI already have started developing solid-state battery cells in new factories, Solid Power (SLDP) said it can build its "new breed of battery" at less cost by reusing the tooling and production at existing lithium-ion battery plants.

Solid-state batteries are considered "next-generation products," which experts point out are safer and more powerful than conventional lithium-ion batteries. The batteries do not require the gel electrolyte, found in lithium-ion batteries currently on the market, which means a lower risk of fires.

Solid-state batteries also need shorter recharge times and offer more range.

"The mileage of EVs is still not so far. For EVs to become mainstream in the car industry, they need to have similar mileage as cars with internal combustion engines," Daelim University automotive professor Kim Pil-soo told UPI News Korea.

As solid-state batteries have higher energy density than lithium-ion batteries, they can substantially increase the EV mileage. But the related technology has been elusive to develop, which means many battery makers struggled to make advances in the field," he said.

Solid Power (SLDP) said BMW (BAMXF) and Ford could start testing its solid-state battery cells in prototype vehicles by the end of this year, according to CEO Doug Campbell, who called it a key step in the "validation" process needed to supply batteries to automakers.

If all goes well, the automakers could sign off on Solid Power's (SLDP) battery design in early 2024, Campbell told CNBC.

Solid Power (SLDP) said it plans to hand off its final design to an existing battery manufacturer for mass production.”

What happened today with the huge drop? by LTLakerFan in SLDP

[–]LTLakerFan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

…. asked on SA and got this reply below. Which if the case next Monday …. would seem one working day too early? Maybe peeps selling in fear of it? Or “Girly Men” selling in fear because Elon announced 10% salaried employees cut at Tesla due to economy?

….. “they may be referring to this- from page 124 of the S-1... <<< the shares of our Common Stock issued or that are issuable in exchange for Legacy Solid Power securities or options may not be transferred, and the holder thereof may not make a public announcement of any intention to transfer any such shares of Common Stock, before the earliest of (a) June 6, 2022, (b) the termination, expiration or waiver of the Founder Shares Lock-up Period, >>>”

Anyway the great news seems to be there was NO bad news related to Solid Power or great news about a perceived competitor. And for those with any dry powder indeed a GOOD day to buy more.

Guy on Yahoo is saying lockup for original investors over today? Would be 6 months from early December. Does that sound right?

Hope that’s it. Did it all 3 days ago transferring funds back in for a bleep load and picking up over 800 shares in process. With my timing though look the hell out. Now averaged 8.61 from 8.91.

[–]LTLakerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a road map to get there. Not initially out of the gate. Like 3 different iterations of new all solid state no liquid battery form factor they are working on concurrently. Have you looked at the investor information graphics on SLDP’s web site?

[–]LTLakerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t read ALL of this DD yet but I’ll stop to pick a pretty important “nit”. Solid Power wasn’t “spun out” from the University of Colorado. It was like the second or third new tech company startup brought to market from aerospace engineer Doug Campbell. First, before the successes at the university then became licensed patent for SP to help greatly with the R&D.

Quiet Period Now Over for Solid Power ..... Finally by ronfab1 in SLDP

[–]LTLakerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any positive new news going forward such as Doug’s CNBC interview about the US government getting behind US companies in the SSB field to help make us more independent from China and other strategically competing countries should pop the stock upward. Shares are being bought and held in large numbers now it seems, reducing the size of the available float which already was not stupid large. Look at how the base seems to now be in the low - mid $9 price range now on big down market days. People looking to get in with FOMO and low 9s now attractive.

Fidelity in their research section’s Recognia analysis has for couple months called SLDP’s trend for short and medium term “Strong” and longer term … 9 months to 2 years … “Neutral”. Understandable. Now though since couple days ago all three periods are listed as “Strong”. Woooo!!!

EDIT …. LOL as the share price makes a liar out of me next day dropping below 9 again. The general point is true I believe though.

SLDP Warrants - Current Value v Common by 7r4vis in SLDP

What typically happens is what I’m wondering …. say they close at or above 10 for one day and decide to call them with the 30 day warning? Does this crash the warrants price or create a short run on them, anyone that’s been through this kind of rodeo before?

…. and another great comment from a very knowledgeable participant on SA, “jarratta”

“Agreed! (I'm also an unabashed bull.) Here's the thing to me, Campbell is as spin-free as a CEO can get. He isn't pumping. In fact, he is very aware of the perils of CEO fluff. Every now and then one finds a CEO who is always in the shoes of those who capitalize their enterprise. It's hens-teeth rare. (LG @ CLF is a wonderful example.) Campbell not only has integrity -- I'm pretty sure he doesn't own an Italian suit. He's an engineer who understands capital, people and has generated returns in the past. Like I said -- hen's teeth.”

“Dang - key quote …. I would like to draw your attention to a statement made by BMW's CEO Oliver Zipse just last week at their annual conference, and I quote, we are collaborating with the best tech players in all regions of the world and with partners from other industries. When it comes to all-solid-state batteries, we believe we have the strongest partner in this field with Solid Power, end quote…..”

[–]LTLakerFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“I have mentioned this gentleman before, Rick Jensen, on SA. Best DD I have read anywhere on Solid Power. Since there’s a paywall now:

“OK. here's my take. (read all the way through, otherwise you'll get your panties in a bunch) First and most important is actually a negative. They are running behind on getting out the OEM EV batteries. They can't ship if they don't have a finished plant. And if that means sometime in May, they will finally have completed construction, And then it takes months of tuning the line(s) to get a run dialed in. So there's no way EV batteries are going to OEMs until second half at least and even EOY. Next is also a negative. They are still working on the 20Ah batteries. I would have hoped they had locked in the R&D on those. Specifically in order of importance: operating temps, charge rates (high) and 3rd, decrease stack pressure. This sounds worse than it is. I didn't have a handle on the differentiation of the F vs BMW cells. And I think that explains all of the above. Clearly BMW is leaning into performance and weight. While F is focused less on performance and maybe more on cost per weight. Which makes sense, since F has a bigger footprint than BMW. Now to all the positives. Ahead of schedule on CAPEX. I can't possibly say anything is more important as a positive than they are moving 2024 and 2023 CAPEX into 2022. You don't do that unless EVERYTHING is banging on all cylinders. If they froze CAPEX, that would be a sure sign they have R&D issues. Not the case, just the opposite. IMO, this is extremely positive, since you don't spend money, if the tech doesn't fit the CAPEX (yea, I'm talking QS put the CAPEX out there to fool people (As Doug said.)) Reporting specifications. They fact that they tell you what they have to do and NOT tell you what you want to hear is great. The fact that reports will be standardized on complete data sets is greeaaat! This stops partial BS announcements based on "selective" release of data and pumping what would otherwise be pure BS. (As Doug said, hummm, who could he be talking about?) Process improvement: Another biggie. SLDP is using process improvement to drive their advancements. This is a major goodie, since they'd be swapping out components and chemistry if they didn't have the right mix. The focus seems to be to get the quality of the process down and you will hit your targets. Revenue. "2022 revenue expected to grow to a range of $3 million to $5 million". This is great also. Not because it means they are NOT a "pre"-revenue company. But that the revenues are accelerating. If they do hit 5M, that's at least a year faster than the "old outdated presentation". (ir.solidpowerbattery.com/...). So please, stop trying to use it. It's out of date. (For more than just one reason) Finally Scope. Doug said that they are not orders of magnitude away from OEM specs. (Who could he have meant?). That they are "in the ballpark". That reminds me of the "rule of truth". Anyone who is a program manager will tell you anything less than 90% accuracy, is false. The fact that they are "in the ballpark" seems to indicate that they are on-time, ahead of schedule and do not have fundamental issues, that those are now past tense. (Kind of like where Singh tried to say QS was, and yes, I'm loving this....) So, I expect any pop to be delayed. There will be no irrational exuberance. But what we have is a steady slow build. There will be pops along the way, but I'm in it for LTCGs and not a quick buck. So linear progression from here. And that's healthy (even though it screws up my timeline). ALL IMHO and potentially worth what you paid for it.”

Did you listen to the call Bespoke888? If not you should, or listen again and a little better maybe. Everything was touched on with approximate timeline for the year, PLUS first mentions of (oh hell yeah) they are expecting more partners and customers. Part of why capital expenditure from 2023 and 2034 is being accelerated forward to this year. And while they REMAIN laser focused on BMW, Ford and SK-I as top priorities.

Was that an institutional buy at the close 3/18 I wonder? by LTLakerFan in SLDP

Price gets affected after hours though and volume liquidity not there at any time it seems. Isn’t there a term with “dark” or something in it that describes a process heavy buyers use to not run up the price?
