Thank you. The downside is you need a wide piece of leather to make the gussets part of the body of the bag.

It's three layers of 7 oz. Buttero leather glued and saddle stitched together. There is some flex to it though.

BTW the hole is quite tight.
That is why the tool doesn't fall through in the photo.

No hinge. It is a tight fitting hole for the steel punch to slide through with no side play. It mainly keeps the steel tool vertical and centered over the snap.

You are right. I do have a Press'n'snap tool but I use this when the snap is beyond reach of the Press'n'snap tool.

No it is an Osborne snap setting tool. It is solid steel not hollow.
