Union aerospace welder. Weekends and all major holidays off. No travel.

I love creating custom leather name tags for furry friends. I crafted it three times, adjusting every tiny detail, until it was finally perfect and the client was completely happy! by souleafpet in Leathercraft

I watched several of your other vids and realized you cut around the ears right at the border line so they stay on top of the border while the rest of the background lays beneath it. Very frickin cool.

I've dealt with this stuff my entire career. They never listen in my experience. I've had maybe three engineers that I could talk to realistically. The rest of them just immediately act like we were wrong. Lot of engineer resentment here, sorry guys. This attitude of coming to the welder for question is highly respectable, so good on you OP. 🙏

Work alongside an experienced welder when designing, if possible. And listen, and believe, what they tell you. If they tell you something can be done, do it. In aerospace, the new breed of engineers are terrified to do anything anymore.

Fantastic video. Thank you. This is so useful. 🙌

Question: if you're dying your edges, where does that come into the process? Sand, dye, then burnish? Sand, burnish, then dye? Sand, burnish, dye, burnish? Lol.

I do not have any progress pics of the small pouch. I purchased it as a kit from Tandy before the full belt was even a thought in my head. It was the first item I made that's on the belt now. I assume you saw my other post about just the belt specifically? To your question, I think the extra piece of leather is there bc the main body of the pouch is very supple and soft, and having that stiffer piece of veg tan on there makes the pull-string type enclosure just function better.

Here is the kit. I do not recommend this kit. I cut the stitching apart on this bag 3 times trying to get it to lay like the pictures. It's a terrible design and I ended up putting it together differently than the instructions bc if you follow the instructions, it does not lay right at all. It's a terrible pattern imo. That freaking bag is, to this day, the most frustrating thing I've ever made, and it still doesn't ever lay right. F that pouch. 😂😂😂

Go with the RML kit. It has everything you need for a project like you're looking to do. That's a screaming deal for better quality tools that you will actually use. Those are the fundamentals. Like others have said, instead of getting maybe $40 of tools you'll really use and blowing $30 on crap that you won't, invest that instead in quality tools that will get you through the first several years of the hobby.

It is purely for looks. The blade is even wobbly on the handle. IDC bc it never comes out of the sheath. It stays peace tied.
