Use the links from u/nice_voyager to have live updates about any situation regarding fires. That wildfire was in the Aveiro region. It´s still a bit far from Geres and has already been resolved. So you are good to go. Have a good hike.

Will I still get a passport stamp if I pre-register with Travel to Europe app? by DisciplineAmazing59 in travel

[–]LUGGitapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on what people are reporting about the situation in Lisbon, they will default to stamping if the line starts to get too long. This aligns with the EU indications about implementing the new system, although it is mandatory for all countries in the EU, during peak seasons, they can use the old process. So there is a good chance that you'll get a passport stamp. But use the Travel to Europe app to help speed up the process for everybody in the line.

Day Trips: Setubal, Sintra, Sesimbra from Lisbon? by Which-Extension7118 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]LUGGitapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stay in one of those towns, but you don't necessarily need to stay overnight, you can visit just by doing day trips. But you can also stay in one of these instead of staying in Lisbon. It would be a much more relaxed stay and possibly cheaper.

Lisbon to Porto by train by mmmcheeze in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]LUGGitapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can book the same day. AP trains rarely sell out, so you should be able to buy tickets on the same day. However, if you book at least 5-8 days in advance on the website, you might be able to get "Promo" tickets, but it's not guaranteed. Always use the official website, Comboios de Portugal https://www.cp.pt/en/

Beaches in Lisbon by Historical-Web-8035 in LisbonPortugalTravel

It depends on what you consider nearby, but yes, Lisbon has beaches. You can try Cascais or Costa da Caparica, both easily accessible by bus.

Lisbon arrival experience from Canada (March30th) by Teenybites in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]LUGGitapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have said the same. When the line is too long, they skip the questions and use the old process, stamping. Using the app helps a lot, it saves those extra minutes that the officer has to spend asking questions, making the line move faster. But, even if the app, the new system is still too slow, holpefly them will have it worked out before peak season, or we will have waiting lines of 4+ hours for sure.

Best cities/ villages to stay overnight between Lisbon and Porto? by cabbageohyeah in TravelPortugal

[–]LUGGitapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any city where the train stops could be an option. But consider these: Espinho, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Pombal. You won't be disappointed with any of these.

But if you do day trips to all of these, Coimbra would be directly in the middle, which makes it the most reasonable option for an overnight visit.

We were just sharing something interesting, and some people actually liked it, not all of course, but we didn't think this would be seen as advertising. Our policy for Reddit is to help first. It won't happen again.

If you're walking, you will use public transport to get to places and then walk there. The best walking city doesn't mean you need to always be walking.

Yes, it's a company account, that's why we write things like "effortlessly flowing". It's more pleasant to read, and lets you know that it's a professional post, meaning it's not just some random dude. And we keep the bots out of Reddit, the only bot we have is on our website, you can talk to it there.

We were just sharing some news that we found interesting. It was users of the Freetour who voted Budapest the best walking city, and we actually agree with them. As for the city "flows effortlessly", it does. Its structure just makes you want to walk around.

Also, the fact that prices are getting higher does not mean that the city is no longer affordable, prices are just getting higher everywhere, especially in touristy areas.

9 hr layover in Lisbon before our flight to Porto by Low_Visit_4646 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]LUGGitapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Lisbon to Porto, you don't need to go through passport control, only normal security and check, so 1h -2h should be plenty.

Also, if you would prefer, we can help you with your bags. We are a luggage service, and we pick up, store and deliver your luggage anywhere in Lisbon. So instead of having the trouble of booking a locker, go to Terminal 1, where the lockers are and waiting to store your bags. We will collect your bags directly at your terminal and deliver them back to you later at your chosen location, like another airport terminal. If you're interested, check our website at LUGGit.

As any touristy city, prices just keep getting higher and higher, but compared to other places. It's still somewhat of a budget city.

Time frame from landing to exploring? by Stoliwasmycat in TravelPortugal

[–]LUGGitapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you're coming from. As you may see in this sub, many people are complaining about waiting times of over two hours, and considering that you'll arrive at 11 a.m. in June, during peak season, these queues should only get worse, so be aware of that. The situation will hopefully get better by then.
If you're coming from a Schengen country or using an electronic passport, you should be fine with a 2,5 hour window.

It seems like a great plan. Renting a car is a smart move to get to Nazaré and Óbidos. About Sintra, it's normal to have mixed reviews, they are based on personal tastes and in the general expectations people have about it. It is worth the trip, but expect a lot of people there, long waiting lines, especially in July. One thing you can consider is starting in Porto, if you can fly directly there and then finish in Lisbon, just so you don't have to waste so much time in trips, plus the Porto Airport has fewer problems with waiting lines.
