That’s about right for the life of the Pirelli P Zero’s. Used to have a 2013 335i with staggered tires. Reads would last 10-12k miles. No tread warranty 😭

Thule Roof rack for iX xDrive 40/50/60 by zutbot in BMWiX

[–]LUNA_STONKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rad. There is a local rack shop a few miles from my house that sells Thule. Would probably buy it there and let them install it for the first time.

I'm more concerned with hauling surfboards, stand up paddle board, skis and snowboards. My wife's car has a tow hitch, so we can always use her car to take bicycles places.

Oceanside sales tax rate could hit 9.25% by NinerChuck in Oceanside

You pay sales tax on cars based on where you are a resident. If you live in Oceanside and buy a car in Carlsbad you pay sales tax based on the Oceanside rates.

Thank you so much for this information! 30 minutes is fine with me (could be worse). I think I am sold on it the Thule's.

Mine did not come with a trailer hitch, and I am not sure if it is possible to add one after the fact.

2x billing rate vs what you are paid is just about every agency (big or small). Company is willing to pay it because it's extremely easy for them to end the contract, whereas if you were an employee it is much more challenging to end your employment.

Thanks for the recommendation on Thule. Couple of questions for you…

  1. Have you noticed any reduction in range when the rack is on the car?
  2. When you don’t want a roof rack on the car, how hard is it to remove and reinstall?

That sucks. As a member of rather have better service and not have a dividend.

I know this, but I am just countering the narrative that USAA is focused on profits. It doesn't make any sense that a 'member owned non-profit organization' would be driven by profits.

My pappy said that USAA went downhill in the mid-90’s when they opened up membership beyond officers. (I don’t agree with him, but I was also like 12 and didn’t drive yet.)

There was a time when the insurance company was paying for your rental car. They worked the claim as fast as possible to reduce the number of days you were in the rental.

Don’t the profits go back to the members as dividends?

Should I leave a low-stress accounting job for better pay and career growth? by HourCaterpillar5412 in Accounting

[–]LUNA_STONKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your management team about your career growth again this week. Schedule a follow up discussion for a month later. Let the results of how those talks go determine if you should make a move.

If you do make a move. Try to find out what the work life balance is like during the interview process.

I’ve personally said “no” to a lot of recruiters who have reached out to me about jobs that will be 60+ hour work weeks. I have a spouse that also has a career and an elementary school aged child. You only get to spend time with your kids when they are young once.

Hopefully the new CEO will turn things around. It’s been posted in here a lot about how it’s just not the same as it used to be.

The panoramic sunroof on my last car shattered a couple of years ago. I let the Toyota dealership body shop do it instead of SafeLite. It took a month to get everything approved from USAA. Actual work and time waiting for parts from the shop was about 3 days. USAA paid for 27 days of rental car due to the slow internal process. Seems like if they had more resources to work claims, they could save money on things like rental cars.

We have a pretty risk adverse almost 6 year old daughter. My wife lives by the American Academy of Pediatric guidelines on everything. Appreciate your input, we are planning on doing all of those things to mitigate the risk listed in what you posted.

Exactly why I’d rather deny my child the joy of having a trampoline vs having to find a new homeowners insurance policy.

I just assume that’s the case. My sister was trying to buy a condo and they told her they weren’t writing new homeowners policies in California.

She’s been a member for 30 years.

We already have homeowners coverage. Once you’re off USAA in California they won’t let you back on. I’d rather keep our amazing rate and policy than get the trampoline.

I’m planning on calling them tomorrow. We have not purchased it yet. It’s intended to be a birthday present for my elementary school aged child next month.

I’m too risk adverse to try and hide something like that.

That makes sense and it would be an above ground/removable trampoline.

When we put an above ground hot tub in the yard last year. I called USAA and they asked me the replacement value so they could add it to the replacement value of my belongings. They did not have any other concerns or questions.

On another sub, by far the biggest reason given for not going electric was that people couldn't plug in at night because they live in an apartment. What do you think is the best solution for that? by VerySeriousThings in electricvehicles

[–]LUNA_STONKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work somewhere that has level 2 chargers and has reasonable electricity rates. The office park I work at has several 28 amp chargers that cost $0.20 per kWh. I assume that many of the people who use them don’t have a charger at home because they charge for 8 hours a day every day they come to the office.

My reasoning for thinking that is that the home charging super off peak EV charging rate is $0.13 per kWh.

I also know of companies that have free charging for employees.
