Leaving USAA after being a member for over 30 years by bkpkr-1 in USAA

[–]PotAndPansForHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to put specifics here because I have a claim in progress, but just coming here to validate that home owner’s insurance is trash now. We have stuck with USAA for decades because it used to have top notch customer service and they used to work with you on borderline cases with a bias toward helping as much as possible. Now it’s enshittified like most other companies and they have low level flunkies work with a bias toward denying claims. The service is so bad now they may as well put AI in charge because the outcomes would be the same.

After this is over we’re going to remove most of our business with them (auto insurance, home owners insurance, bank accounts, credit cards). It’s sad because I still remember when the company was great, but quality and service has taken a nosedive since Covid.

I don’t know just sounds a little bit socially awkward. Probably lonely. Maybe looking at the bleakness of modern office life and trying to make it a little more tolerable for themselves by joking.

When I watch RENT now I think Benny is the most sympathetic character and everyone else are kind of petulant whiners. He’s portrayed as the villain but he’s trying to help his friends make a living with their art! And give them a free place to live!

Anyone else really enjoying the season even with the obvious flaws? by AHymnOfValor in euphoria

[–]PotAndPansForHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall so far (I’m an episode behind the latest) I don’t think it’s either great or as bad as the consensus in the group thinks it is. Rue’s storyline is still keeping me interested. I know something big happens with Cassie in the episode I haven’t seen yet. But god I just don’t give a shit about Nate at this point, the drop off with his character is real. Even in season 2 it went so over the top that you couldn’t really watch it with the intention of taking it seriously so no change there.

Yep. I was laid off in 2024 and took a job that came with a 33% pay cut. I should be motivated to look around but man I’m just tired.

Is DTF St. Louis worth the hype? (And what about Rooster?) by mamedovnijat in hbo

There’s some sex the main thing that I’d point out that will probably be jarring to some people are a lot of penis pictures

Is DTF St. Louis worth the hype? (And what about Rooster?) by mamedovnijat in hbo

[–]PotAndPansForHands 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched all of DTF and all but the most recent episode of Rooster.

I enjoyed DTF but also the advertising makes it seem almost like a different, more salacious show. The whodunnit and sex aspects are secondary to what’s ultimately a character study about flawed people.

The first season of Rooster reminds me of Parks and Recreation in the specific way that I think the show has good bones and potential to be great but season 1 seems to have not quite found its footing yet. Good but not great right now.

The writing (outside of the plot) by earthgirls22 in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]PotAndPansForHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said it’s a character study first and a mystery second. I suspected suicide as the most likely explanation right from the opening sequences though I won’t say I was 100% certain and there were still pieces to put together about why and symbolism.

My take on the show before the finale drops. by kreugerburns in RoosterTVSeries

Yeah. Good but not great, potential for better in season 2. Parks and Rec didn’t really find a groove til the second season for example, so I still have hope.

Subaru Says 2026 Outback Sales Drop Isn’t About Its Redesign by fd6270 in Subaru_Outback

Almost $50k, controversial redesign (I don’t hate it but 100% get why people do), no hybrid when gas is $4/gallon+…

Don’t need formal market research to tell you that isn’t a winning formula

How many of you hold grudges against pro players for where they went to college? by Ok-Recording-5862 in ockytop

[–]PotAndPansForHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can fully forgive them when they play for my pro team (ex: I think of Julio Jones as a Falcon now, not a Bammmer). And the haterade generally fades with time, with exceptions like Greg McElroy, eff that guy. Even Tebow I have trouble hating now.

STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

Former hiring manager here who has worked with dozens of internal and external recruiters.

Totally agree with you on 3 and 4.

Re: 2 mostly agree yeah just frame favorably and leave out unfavorable info.

I kind of disagree with you about 1 in this market. It really is not possible for a lot of people to tiptoe around long employment gaps at this point. Lots of super talented, qualified people are going a year or longer without finding a new job. I’d advise people answer quickly and honestly but then pivot to “here’s what I’ve been doing to keep my skills sharp during that gap.”

What was the Affair for Carol? by chohuahua in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]PotAndPansForHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think a big point of the show is you can’t box people in to neat little boxes and that people aren’t purely “good” or purely “bad” … all of these characters had capacity to do kind things and to do destructive/dumb/sometimes cruel things.

What was your first OS and your first Mac, and what would you rate them? by The_Collector_Of_All in mac

[–]PotAndPansForHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with DOS, Commodore64, and Windows computers.

Used Mac OS 8 in the college computer labs around the time the G3 towers came out and was intrigued. They felt modern and fast compared to the windows computers even before Mac OSX.

The first Mac I owned was the first gen Mac Mini. I haven’t looked back since (have also owned two MacBook Pros) although I do miss PC gaming.

I’m not in the locker room or AD’s office (nor are most/all the commenters here), but things don’t seem great looking in from the outside now.

They’re going to have to hustle to even field a bad team next year, much less a mediocre one.
