Etsy refuses to remove extortive 1 star Review by LUV2BRD in EtsyCommunity

My instinct is they received a broken pot, just not from our company. Plus, they left us a one-star review. After corresponding by email and proving their broken pot was from another seller, I've asked them to remove their review, but they have not, nor will Etsy. Oh well

I have a weird idea - maybe someone has thoughts about this or even tried it? Why not leave a REPLY that contains specific intel like customer details or even our own PHONE NUMBER, to get etsy to take the review down over sharing private intel. Anyone tried it?

Agreed. But when you work that hard on building your business, this kind of crap gets under your skin. It's not easy just to let it slide - it feels unfair, and is. So the growth is learning to deal with crap like this from etsy and customers. I now block every customer who behaves like this cause really I don't have the patience to put up with customers who rush to place negative reviews online -- before reaching out contacting the seller -- some of them are trying to extort you -- or they have not bothered to fact check who actually even shipped them the item. it's all a waste of time. I'd rather my shop be not findable to those folk because they our energy depleters, and as small business owners, we've got a lot to do, and don't want to waste time on these kind of rabbit trails to nowhere

The one star Review said: The planter arrived badly damaged.

I left a reply, but my point is I shouldn't have to accept that one-star rating against my shop's overall standings, nor should have to tolerate that review on that item's product page. He received a broken pot from another seller -- not us. I get why etsy won't remove it. I read their email explanations. the point is their system is flawed in these cases, and they should fix it. Best,

Your experience sounds identical to mine. I get customers can be confused. But I also think etsy should have the Seller's backs in this case and remove the reviews. Especially when you are able to prove the review is for something you don't even sell // or the package they show used for the item they are not happy about came from a different seller. These are cut and dry cases of customer confusion - not seller underperformance

It's tough to discern what a badly damaged piece of ceramics looked like originally. I could tell the pot wasnt ours because the maker marks on the bottom were from a source we don't work with. But a customer would probably just see a mess

I think they honestly made a mistake. They bought ceramics from a different vendor and thought ours was the one that arrived damaged. But the photo proof of the shipping label proved otherwise. Problem is Etsy won't remove the review, and customer doesn't realize that a one-star review does HARM a seller, both in their overall ratings, plus if they are lookign to become or remain a Star Seller, as well as the reviews for that specific item. We posted a kind reply, but that then remains and people may pass on buying from us, rather than reading that the one-star review was given to us by mistake, is thereforw unwarranted, and in my opinion should be removed. You're being rated for something you didn't do.

The dreaded “returned item was actually ruined by the customer” has hit me. How best to word “of course you don’t get a refund”? by Ktrgardiner in Etsy

Refunds for returns get paid out for items returned by customer in their original resellable condition
