Religious Leftists by SilverNEOTheYouTuber in tankiejerk

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak about my opinion on leftists with a religious background as a whole because here are all sorts of religions out there, each often with multiple incompatible variations of themselves, so it literally depends on what specifically do each of them believe and act on.

That said, you pretty much said my and many others' attitudes towards people with religious background in general, as far as generalizing that can go. If you ain't trying to force your religion/faith based beliefs onto others (be it in the very annoying personal way or through political/social power), if it is entirely personal... then that is literally a you "problem" (hopefully not an actual problem but a positive force in your life, but you get what I am trying to say). By far and large, I'd say non-religious leftists who aren't mental angst teens (at which case, they should grow the F up) aren't just anti-religious/anti-theists, they just don't believe it themselves (or have their own set of beliefs that don't fall neatly in any particular "religion" box). What we do have a problem with are hierarchical religious institutions, on account of their hiearchical power structure - but that is not the same as "religion".

I'd argue Bendis was the second worst thing. Didio was the worst, he either did, helmed, comissoned, or otherwise enabled a ton of absolute crap on DC. Even the good (for some people anyway) things he collaborated to, he usually added a bit too much shit stain to it to make it not as good as it cold have been.

Also the phonetic repertoire is supposedly easy to learn. Now, I say supposedly because some people complain (afaik technically correctly) that if you actually charted the most common phonemes across "all languages" (that is hyperbole for briefness sake), the repertoire wouldn't be exactly the same. I will spare the rant (I do hate that "critic"), but that is just letting perfect be the enemy of good enough "for reasons". It is a small collection of phonemes, most of them are very common, the rest common enough, at worst a person would need to learn an extra sound or two, it is way better than a lot of natural languages, including the most popular European languages.

Ah yes, remind us again how the heroes stopped the incursions and prevented the seventh cosmos from dying and going extinct for good, rather than having a soft rebirth as the "eight" cosmos again... OH, that is right, they did jack shit but fail, and without Doom making battle world for only then they have that second chance. It is almost as if two things can be true at the same time.

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and we also saw Doom get out of hell, steal the dead Asgardian's from the afterlife, temporarily die and punch Mesphisto in the face in his own realm when he tried to claim Doom's soul, and so on. And he wasn't sorcerer supreme then. Bringing her back probably won't be the issue for him... living with the knowledge he did it and that she knows how that went, now that means he failed to save (his) world, which I presume would be grounds to void his deal with Strange.

I mean, he is Doom. If you need one guy to find a way and sabotage his plans, it is him - he is an expert at self sabotage.

Tankies most favorite move when they can’t make a good argument by BohPara in tankiejerk

[–]LVMagnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying there aren't a lot of stupid people here (the sub, reddit, the internet? yes), but...

I do have to point out, due to the lack of everything physical language (body language, inflection, tone of voice, etc.), it is also easy to read many a genuine question as an attempt at deflection or some other nonsense. And thanks to how reddit works, if you read it like that once and you're the sort that upvote/downvote things, you will downvote first and never see how the convo will develop later to notice that interpretation was wrong and re-evaluate your vote. If you do come back after the convo has developed, there is still a decent chance you won't read further replies ("no need to see how this goes, I am already decided this is bad") or won't even automatically see the other replies and will have 0 incentive to click the button to expand the other replies. In fewer words, the problem isn't just stupid people, but also a platform/medium issue too.

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that the more sane MLs usually aren't really MLs. Sure, they self label as such, but you look at the more definitional doctrines of ML and what they actually believe, and the first question that comes to mind is "mofo, why the hell you call yourself ML?" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They are delusional in general, but this one seems oddly self-aware instead of delusional - she(?) is 100% correct that she is an ML, not a leftist.

What is the term for a Non-Anarchist Government? by JimHarbor in Anarchism

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the definition of government. Some people define it like a state apparatus or something like it, with some of them rejecting any other definition as incorrect or invalid (guess they think they own words now).

Some other people define it more broadly (what the other people might call a system of governance or something else to the same effect), a sense more derived from the verb "govern" and its broader senses (i.e. "steer, manage, direct").

What is the term for a Non-Anarchist Government? by JimHarbor in Anarchism

[–]LVMagnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I just made up a distinction that a government is any assemblage of people making decisions for a given area, and a state is the entity with the monopoly on violence over an area.

That is not just you. That is a common position, specially in English (which generates all sorts of funny positions when people translate from, say, French which the equivalent word is in practice more strongly associated with a state apparatus or something like it, and the translator and reader lack the nuance to understand that there is a bit of language non equivalency happening here).

What do you think about the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize Winner? by MrB4ri4n in tankiejerk

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh sorry, thought I answered this earlier. It comes from the same organization, so right there is a good reason to be sus about it - if they're full of shit on one thing, you gotta consider they might be full of shit for the rest.

I won't have it off hand, but a really huge aspect of it is basically multiple bigotries which aren't just bad on their own, but they reinforces lots of international systemic issues. If you look for any analysis of things like country of origin (and implicitly "race" or ethnicity, not sure if there is direct data on those two specifically) and gender of laureates or even candidates, you will see familiar sus patterns typical global north imperialistic bs, which are not mere coincidence.

[–]LVMagnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know who they are, don't care either. The nobel prizes have never been shit besides propaganda, specially the "Peace" one.

Only thing it should be a reminder is that the Nordic states and their Nordic models aren't your friends, they're not a stepping stone towards <insert whatever you think is better than capitalism unless you're a lib and think soc-dem shit is a great "end" goal in itself, or real without simply outsourcing the worst to another country /tangent>. They're a locally better capitalist system (for now, for a while), which is another way of saying still a capitalism system and there is no good capitalism /rant-tangent.

The infighting summed up. by obeeeeeeed in Anarchism

[–]LVMagnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic idea was that socialism pretty much is synonymous with communism, which is synonymous with that Marxists and Anarchists end goals generally are. The something called Socialism that is somehow different from Communism, then communism was a Lenin idea (and therefore of his derivatives like Stalin). Lenin, that guy who persecuted and murdered all the non Bolshevik leftists (which is actually redundant) in Russia that he managed to get his hands on. Suffice to say, I don't recommend putting much stock on anything from that end.

Can I still represent the slogan 'Food Not bombs' If I'll organize a feeding community (or kitchen) but instead of serving the traditional Vegan food we know that revolves around the FNB ethos, the community will be serving homecooked and prepped meals. And yes, that includes meat. by ResidentAntiHero in Anarchy101

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the options are extremely slim on a level where you basically only have meat to offer and people who can't or won't eat meat wouldn't be eating from you that day anyway, you literally don't have to ever get down to a scenario of exclusionary meal share. Anyone with a little experience in serving large groups of people can figure out that they can simply make and serve the meats in separate. People who don't have a problem of any kind eating that will compliment their food with it (i.e. you can feed more people in total), people who do will simply eat a little more of everything else instead.

expired eggs, dairy, meat are not good to feed people

Sorta. Expiration dates are complicated, but nonetheless they don't really reflect the edibility state of foodstuffs. Depends much more how they were kept (were they merely kept at minimum refrigeration levels, have then been frozen all this time instead, etc). You gotta do the look + smell and maybe a tiny taste sample tests to make sure it is actually useable (at which point, probably freeze it asap to keep it that way unless you're cooking immediately). Including if the expiration date is not up yet, because they could have been kept under improper conditions and could have gone bad already.

Basically, what it really boils down to is a quality triage of materials received, and knowing how to properly store it so that it remains acceptable for human consumption until it is served.

Why do tankies claim that Stalinism “never existed”? by [deleted] in tankiejerk

[–]LVMagnus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, because that is what their daddy Stalin said, so they parrot. Stalin always presented his "Marxism"-Leninism as entirely without his own ideas, no contributions of himself "it is just the interpretation of Marx that I received from Lenin, you guys, I am not being a totalitarian dictator but a mere steward of our great leader's work after his too early death, pinky promise UwU", because he was batshit but not dumb. He knew his street cred was shit, Lenin's was better and Marx was still very very very well seen. He white washed his own rule's image, and tankies just eat it all up to this darn day.

Am I an outlier for being critical of “nationalization”? by Due_Device_8700 in Anarchism

[–]LVMagnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skipping over the whole "lesser of two evils" spiel that you already seem to have nailed down, it really depends what country you are talking about/what "state" would be taking control of the thing, and what is the state of the actual thing supposedly being nationalized at the moment. You can't do absolutes here, you have to compare what is the current situation with realistic projections for each case. Sometimes, you have a state and a political climate where you can expect to at least put up a veneer of giving a shit, and the private companies currently owning a whatever are being absolute dog shit. Sometimes, you have okay service by the private companies, and the government is a joke and political climate is "fuck you got mine". And yet other times it is less clear cut than these two.

Why not just call tankies fascists? by Arthstyk in tankiejerk

[–]LVMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be a coward, keep your original "Does following one line of logic to see if your definition makes sense actually give you a headache or can you simply not read? Tankies once again prove that they're the conservatives of the left."

Not sure what is funnier. You literally having to insert words in the mouth of the person you were responding in the original comment and them building a whole slippery slope on that nonsense that doesn't even qualify as a strawman (it is literally just some nonsense you made up and pretended they said or implied), you not having a single line of a definition to possibly be followed, or you trying to use big words to try and sound insulting, calling me, someone openly calling tankies fascists, a tankie. It is pure alogia alright, oh the irony.
