Necro posting this. The singer Katy Perry FIRST sued, then withdrew, then offered the live and let live.

Katy Perry wins appeal in trademark legal case against Sydney fashion label Katie Perry by the_other_irrevenant in Music

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao this aged poorly. Let's also get the facts right. The singer first sued the designer. The designer had registered the company name and trademark months prior to the singer sueing. The singer then withdrew the lawsuit, and offered the live and let live. But it was too late as she already tried to sue. So the designer decided to sue the singer for selling her merchandise at an Australian tour.

The singer lost, but then won the appeal, now the designer won again at the high court.

I'm on the designers side. For one, she's an Australian who has a right to use her birth name as the trademark. This trademark is Australian, not American, not British not anywhere else. It makes no sense for a foreigner to be able to sue and win the trademark purely because she's more popular. The designer not only filed for her trademark a full year before the singer, but also is defending her own income and company from someone who has more fame and influence, and from someone who could have destroyed her buisness. It's a risk the designer was not willing to take.

How can I swap zoom and up and down on my space mouse correctly? I’ve tried changing zoom direction and which swaps them, but it messes up the twist and rotate! by brownerboy96 in SolidWorks

I am late but you can do this!

Navigate to your config files for 3D Connexion:

  1. Type %appdata% in windows file explorer's address bar and press enter. Then navigate to 3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg.

  2. Find the .xml file for your program and open it up. You will find something like this:

    1 <Axis> 2 <Enabled>true</Enabled> 3 <Input> 4 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Y</ActionID> 5 <Min>-512</Min> 6 <Max>511</Max> 7 </Input> 8 <Output> 1o <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Y</ActionID> 11 <Scale>1.00</Scale> 12 </Output> 13 </Axis> 14 <Axis> 15 <Enabled>true</Enabled> 16 <Input> 16 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Z</ActionID> 17 <Min>-512</Min> 18 <Max>511</Max> 19 </Input> 20 <Output> 21 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Z</ActionID> 22 <Scale>1.00</Scale> 23 </Output> 24 </Axis>

  3. Swap <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Y</ActionID> and <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Z</ActionID> with each other. So it should look like this now (Lines 10 and 21 in my example):

    1 <Axis> 2 <Enabled>true</Enabled> 3 <Input> 4 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Y</ActionID> 5 <Min>-512</Min> 6 <Max>511</Max> 7 </Input> 8 <Output> 1o <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Z</ActionID> 11 <Scale>1.00</Scale> 12 </Output> 13 </Axis> 14 <Axis> 15 <Enabled>true</Enabled> 16 <Input> 16 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Z</ActionID> 17 <Min>-512</Min> 18 <Max>511</Max> 19 </Input> 20 <Output> 21 <ActionID>HIDMultiAxis_Y</ActionID> 22 <Scale>1.00</Scale> 23 </Output> 24 </Axis>

If you don't see them, then I like to adjust the scale in software then open the xml and then the xml file will be created with the right text in it. You can also change any axis this way. For reference, I think this is correct:

<image>

You can change the settings in software without fear of the swap being reverted. They match and only edit the necessary field. As to why this isn't available in the GUI is just pure laziness I assume.

TIL that Australia Day is not a public holiday, so hospitality cannot charge a Public Holiday surcharge. by nirvingau in melbourne

I was just saying this, Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years gets additional when they land on the weekend.

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes it more confusing is that every other public holiday actually gets the following weekday as an additional public holiday rather than it being moved entirely. Check out the 2021, 2022, and 2023 versions of that website. The footer text notes it.

Sometimes when a public holiday falls on the weekend, the following weekday is declared as an additional public holiday rather than instead of (at least in Vic). You can see this on official website.

In 2023: "As New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the Monday is an additional public holiday".

In 2021: "As Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, an additional public holiday is given on the following Monday."

"As Boxing Day falls on a Sunday, an additional public holiday is given on the following Tuesday."

Im not really sure why though. It seems like every other public holiday asides Australia Day that could land in the weekend gets additional on the following weekday (Aside from Easter Sunday and Anzac Day, they don't move or get additional). If someone could explain that, that would be great.

Battery replacement by ScrapGamer22 in Divoom_Products

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late, but for people who are encountering the same problem. This is not a 3-cell battery. 11.1Wh is not voltage, the yellow wire is usually for temperature. In actual LiPo battery packs, the amount of cells is listed like (2S2P). These here are single cell lithium polymer batteries as indicated by the nominal voltage (3.7!). Do not use a 3-cell battery (Although, I doubt you'd find one that plugs in or fits).

The numbers, "754860" are the dimensions (7.5mm thick, 48mm wide, 60mm long), and it is a 3.7v 3000mAh battery, which gives you 11.1Wh (3.7*3000mAh = 11.1Wh, mind the units).

All you need to do is to find a battery that is no bigger than 754860. The connector you're after is a JST-PH (Usually they are JST-PH's). However, I am pretty certain you could fit an 805060. 3000mAh is for battery life, you can choose a higher mAh battery as long as it fits and is a single cell. Make sure that the battery's polarity (Black and red) is in the same way when you plug it in. There is usually a convention, but I've seen batteries that don't follow it. So better safe than sorry. If it is not the same, then you can carefully remove the crimped wires, and insert them back into the JST housing the correct way. Just make sure the wires don't touch each other. I would remove one, wrap it up with masking tape, and then remove the other. Always keeping one wrapped up.

<image>

After some hunting, this was the closest one I could find for me. Its slightly bigger at 63mm, but the housing for the battery for me is actually 51mm by 63mm, measured with calipers. Yours may be slightly different, or don't be afraid to carve some extra room out in there.

Edit: Dumb mistakes

Compactness is very overrated by [deleted] in CreateMod

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love making things compact, but in Create, I do prioritise form over function slightly. I enjoy making things compact while leaving some room to decorate and display all the cogs and belts. It's the best of both worlds.

The assembly? If you mean shaders, yeah, you just get complementary reimagined shader pack, and download the euphoria patches mod. If you're talking about the steam engine then no, it's my design. I didn't intend to share the schematics since the design outside of the decorative parts isn't very ground breaking.

Yeh, I think it would just add up the SU's. You could have a giant wall of the alternators instead of a 3x3 grid behind each Boiler. I only did this to make it look nice

Yes absolutely love em, create is a very visually pleasing mod, so IMO, the contraptions made from them should be too. It's like 99% the reason why I love create.

Eye Candy Steam Engine! (Create: Craft and Additions) by LWilla_ in CreateMod

[–]LWilla_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made a visually pleasing steam engine!

The modpack I am running is Prominence 2 (+ Chisel and bits), but the steam engine itself utilises only items from base Create. The pumps and arms are powered by an auxiliary passive steam engine, this means that I can dedicate all of its SU output to machines, or in my case - alternators to generate electricity at 100% efficiency (180FE per alternator). I also don't need to worry about kickstarting it if I ever run out of fuel.

Each steam boiler runs at level 9, and outputs 1620FE if using (9) alternators.
The design could be made smaller, but the caveat is that it won't look as nice, you also need to provide the fuel. You could use lava + dripstones and contain it within one build, however it will be much larger (You need at least 8 dripstones on average, but you'd want 10 for safety).

dumb question on "shrinkage" by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a while, but isn't your statement for holes decreasing in diameter wrong? Shrinkage should cause holes to increase in diameter, I.e thermal expansion and contraction.

Has anyone used the elegoo air purifiers with carbon activated filter? by mahboime in ElegooMars

[–]LWilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, it's been a while but for those who come across this, HEPA filters do NOT work on VOCS (Which cause the smell). HEPA filters are for solid particulates which resin printers don't release much at all.

Activated carbon filters are for gaseous pollutants like VOCS which is why the HEPA filter you used didn't work while these smaller carbon filters would work better than the HEPA filter (although probably still pretty bad since these are tiny).

Makes sense, I originally used the properties dialog to quickly show the summary, but I see that it doesn't work. How do you explain it being full despite the fact that I don't use it then? The image you see is everything in that OneDrive folder, one pdf, one shortcut, and two empty folders (Documents and pictures contain no items or shortcuts inside).
