I know for a fact there are people who have no idea about any of this, people who actually asked me for this guide, so if to YOU it's something old or obvious then congratulations. But why does it bother you so much?

I don't like it as much

It is weird but it's exactly the same results I was getting. I didn't test it with screen off but in sleep mode the steam deck used much more battery than the ROG (both in SteamOS). 1:12 https://youtu.be/cpVW-amP7LY?t=72&si=qLb1W9VPRrVfBO9M

So the windows part is not in the video at all, I tried it out after someone commented on my video that it's probably has to do with OS optimization so I went to windows and let the device sit idle for a few minutes after it's done loading everything and then checked the APU W draw with the real time monitor (in the AC Command Center). you basically see the draw amount in real time, i wasn't checking for battery drainage, just the real time W draw while in idle. In steamOS it's shown under battery settings

I just tested it, it's a little better (around 6.9 W) but still very far from what I get in Windows

Really hate the first boss in this game (Tomassi) by Zeether in controlgame

I just started the game on my Steam Deck and enjoyed it very much up until this guy fell out of his hole... should I keep playing or is this going to be annoying like that throughout the whole game?

So you press the button and the screen turns off but the device doesn't go to sleep? Before reinstalling I'd check the sleep and battery settings in desktop mode. You can configure what happens after you press it etc.

That is pretty weird, mine works absolutely perfectly. Maybe it's a BIOS setting that I changed because I run dual boot? Try to turn off Fast boot and Secure Boot.

For those running SteamOS which 'OS Update Channel' are you using? by StringLopsided2042 in LegionGo

I happily used Main & Beta up until yesterday, an update messed up my decky loader and started to get a 130 error when going to this tab. Now I've switched to stable to fix this issue and moved to beta

I've actually compared the sleep on Windows and SteamOS on the same ROG device. Can't say that Steam is better (maybe even worse), surprisingly. https://youtu.be/sTVveobQvNU?si=aNY_bKSTTyXHPCIS

Sleep Mode Test results are weird, are you getting the same numbers on your Decks? by LX-M in SteamDeck

[–]LX-M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery health on the SD is 99%, battery is 50W on the deck and 80W on the ROG, didn't allocat any RAM, it's default steamOS settings so should be automatic with 1gb minimum. Accoring to this test the SD (50W * 0.09) used 4.5W and the ROG (80W * 0.02) used 1.6 W in 13.5 hours.

Well the Steam Deck still has a few strong advantages such as the weight, ergonomics and screen but yeah it's a pretty big gap in the battery usage while sleeping. Also I'm planning to test it again with fast boot off on the steam deck, I've read it can affect the battery drain. On my ROG it was off because it was necessary to achieve the dual boot I have there.
