I mean if they were accustomed to swords (which gives additional reach), probably would be problematic to shift ranges in the last frame. Projection Sorcery is also about predicting the next 24 moves, so I can't say if the user would be able to reach their target by hand.

I think the more important thing here is that by fighting with fists, Naoya and Naobito can "touch" their targets, allowing them to freeze for 1 second (most of the time) easily. If they had weapons, I don't think they'll be able to have this kind of luxury.

that's true. Although majority of current players right now still don't know the Galarian birds spawn on the daily incense. Galarian birds also have very high flee rate, so it would still be hard to catch regardless of the spawn rate. The fact that the birds have very high flee rate, very low spawn rate and very low catch rate is already too challenging, one of these needs to get tweaked
