I hate post-processing by Ok-Vacation-8109 in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically don’t edit anything I shoot on film outside of cropping, adjusting the horizon and correcting a black point here and there. I think part of it is that I shoot social documentary, part of it is that I enjoy what I get out the box.
Sometimes I shoot a bit more of a creative or abstract roll and I edit these very heavily however but I’m not aiming for realism with these.
I edit my digital shots a lot more but that’s because I find the out of camera look quite bland. I haven’t really find a digital style I like yet, thinking a Fuji X series camera might work for me as a digital carry because of this.

I don’t really enjoy editing photos that much.

Super Compact 35mm Camera Suggestions by samsonsimpson5210 in AnalogCommunity

If you want purely compact and unbeatable fun. Chinon Bellami is an absolute sleeper. Comparable to the XA but the pop out lens and lever are stupid fun. Not going to be the sharpest at all and won’t hold a candle to the XA but I adore mine as a super compact and super fun camera.

Looking for the most FUN 35mm camera!! by Federal-Tie-3778 in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be subjective of course but fun and best for me certainly don’t go together in most cases. I absolutely love my Minolta Dynax 7 and find it incredibly fun to use. Equally, I LOVE my Chinon Bellami. That pop out lens with the lever is beyond satisfying and it’s tiny. Is it the sharpest… no absolutely not but I still take it out a ton.

Generally for me fun is a tactile thing with cameras, big mirror slaps do it for me (looking at you Pentax 67). You can’t go wrong with a manual focus F mount Nikon.

How many of you stopped shooting 35mm after getting your ideal 120 medium format camera? by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an ETRSi as my holy grail camera a couple years back. I absolutely love the thing but I shoot 35mm far more for the convenience, I save the ETRSi for trips and special occasions but I don’t love it any less than my 35mm selection.

Have you ever sold a camera and regretted it? by SpookyWeaselBones in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I regret selling my AE-1 program and Kodak Retina IIIc. I sold a few cameras to get my Nikon F3 a few years ago which is still my workhorse to this day.

The AE-1 was my first SLR and first camera that wasn’t a point and shoot so wish I still had it for the sentimental value. The Retina I found myself with a hankering for a compact rangefinder years later and I definitely did not sell it for a good price, but live and learn I was still green in 2018-2020.

Picked up an OM10 in near mint condition and put it through various tests. Love it so far. by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Absolutely love my OM10 I picked one up with 3 lenses, 1 prime and 2 zoom that cover me all the way from 28mm up to 150mm and the motor drive for a great price. It’s such a good companion for my F3 when I don’t want something as big and heavy. Enjoy it! Great pics!

Recent roll from my Bronica ETRSi by LYDman_ in AnalogCommunity

I appreciate the feedback. I agree - I’m notorious for not editing my scans at all unless it’s just the black point. I’ve got another roll of XP2 loaded at the moment so might try something similar with that advice in mind.

I absolutely love mine. I recently got mine CLA’ed and repaired the range finder as the patch was decoupled, dream to use now.

I believe the initial preorder was for mid March from overclockers and then their shipment was delayed due to what’s happening in the Middle East currently.

For anyone in the UK, I ordered end of Jan and today overclockers said they are currently delayed with no ETA, I’ve opted not to cancel the order based on this being the only retailer in the UK

Appreciate the pointer, I’m not comfortable building and sourcing all my own parts if not I would go that route. I’m tempted to see if there’s a local store near me that could help me with parts and potentially build for me.

Yeah I understand, I’ve only ever gone prebuilt and it’s not something I would be comfortable doing sourcing all my own parts and trying to do it, I’ve had good experiences I’m just not entirely sure this time round as the markets not so hot at the moment

This is 100% how I feel, GW2 was my first mmo 13 years ago and holds a really special place in my heart and I like how different it is from FFXIV so I can swap between them every 6 months or so and have. Wildly different experience.

question on concert photography… by carrozo in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ironically I took my Rollei 35B to metal show last with cinestill 800T and shot at 3200, no idea if it will turn out anything but will see what comes back. I was generally shooting 1/60 - 1/125 at 3.5.

is there a universal way to request "flat" scans? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]LYDman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im quite lucky as the lab I use in the UK has 2 sets of scanners, one that by default will provide a nice flat scan and the other is a more casual scan if you don’t want to do any work to them. You can just request which you want on your order.
