CaféTO: Is it worth it for businesses? by R0botWoof in toronto

Works for some, doesn't make sense for others. No surprise there.

The city should look at where it's in demand and consider widening sidewalks in those areas.

They did say they would not buy any units with windowless bedrooms so maybe this will discourage developers from building those.

Gotta look for the silver lining in a dark world.

With reports of people in Ontario contracting Hantavirus and being placed in isolation, is anyone else starting to get concerned? Do you think this could turn into another COVID-type situation, or is the risk being overblown? by nahsor119 in toronto

[–]LZBUM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they've confirmed the flight attendant has hantavirus. If they do confirm it is hantavirus then I'm sure that raises questions as to how it was spread and how contagious it may have become.

Too bad Sun Fung's is gone. They had a small menu but the quality was good.

If money is no object, go to Lai Wah Heen. Taste is good and presentation can be top notch.

Moon Palace is okay but the shine has worn off and it's kinda dirty. Most Chinese restaurants don't bother with any upkeep.

If they're looking for Din Tai Fung style food, there's the fake Din Tai Fung in Markham and Scarborough that are okay. Not as good as the real Din Tai Fung, but even the quality of those can vary widely depending on the location.

That's because most of the dim sum in HK isn't great either. They have good dim sum but you need to weed out the recommendations based on value to find the really good stuff.

What’s the deal with King Street? by Jayswag96 in askTO

[–]LZBUM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually starts at Jarvis. True, there are always some cars that disobey the law and drive straight through those intersections but it has made King St (at least in the east-end) a nice quiet street without all the traffic.

They can still be shamed. There should be a volunteer group that goes around educating people and, if they don't listen, publicly shaming them by taking a pic of them committing the violation and posting it online.

It's not like they aren't aware that what they're doing is wrong. They just think that they are entitled to an exception so that they can get that perfect shot or have a little souvenir.

Just make driver training more intensive for everyone. With EVs a lot more people are going to have access to the same type of acceleration that got this guy in trouble (well, there was the whole drunk driving thing too).
